Power of Positive Thinking

Months ago I read a great post from CrazyMama where she talked about the words in her home. I loved the post and haven’t forgotten about it. I’m finally taking the time to feature the words in my home.

“Being happy doesn’t mean everything is perfect. It means you decide to see beyond the imperfections.”

Years ago, when I was in my “self-discovery” phase I read my Self-Confidence Formula and my Creed for Self-Discipline out loud daily. (No, I’m not kidding. ha ha) I can’t help but laugh remembering those days. They were filled with self-doubt, a lot of anger, and concern for the future. That time in my life was dark but completely necessary.

“Today’s test is tomorrow’s testimony.”

Back in the day Dr. Phil and I were BFF’s! Yet, here I am today purged of past hurts, trauma, and guilt. I relied on the Lord to help me heal and really took that time seriously. As a result I guess I’ve subconsciously filled my home with reminders to myself of how to live and what’s important to me.

Holy Cow! I’ve got a lot of words in my home. Maybe I need to branch out on my decorating style a bit. ha ha. Each one of these pieces holds a special meaning to me. I’m glad they’re in my home speading positive thinking and joy.

  1. I love all the words in your home! I need more in mine. In fact, just last night I was thinking that I need to put some up to remind me of things I need to work on like patience and something about my tone of voice. . . The only thing I currently have that’s words in my home is:
“Life is what we make it. Always has been, always will be.”
    Thanks for sharing!

  2. Those are all so great! Thanks for sharing.

It’s neat that a lot were gifts from friends. The power of words is great. Combine it with friendship and you have some very meaningful and beautiful decor. 🙂

  3. love all your words i have alot of the same ones. the Be’s and the life is to be enjoyed no just endured. as for me and my house. Love, and lots of Joy things and lots of HOPE. i love Liberty stuff too. and
oh i have “life is uncertain eat dessert first.” and “we may not have it all together but together we have it all.” ‘quityerbellachin’. i need to hang up all my signs! love them.
    i love words too.

  4. Those are all FABULOUS!
I am hooked on those wooden word plaques – have them all over my house – family, pray, dream, create, inspire, ART, Paris, and London.
I’ve also been creating word things with my cricut machine – love that machine!

Hope you have a great week.

  5. OH i love words. I have a LOT in my house. Almost as much as you do.

I have a sign that is over my door It says ” Return with Honor”.

  6. WOW! If I just spent one day and read all the stuff in your house… I would have read more in your house, on your walls, then I do in any good book in a month!

Haha… I use to be that bad, but I’ve gotten to be a better reader as of lately.

Love all the signs in your house… I’ve got one about remembering the small things in life – that I love – but I obviously don’t read it enough beacause it’s been there for 2 years, and I still don’t have it memorized!!

And I love that a lot of them are ones you made or received… very cool and helps you remember not only the saying but the person who gave it to you too.

  7. If people only knew how strategic those words were placed. The Boys Will Be Boys up the stairs as you stomp your way to screaming fights or the Testimony one in the living room where you probably need it the most 😉 Keep up the reading and maybe at some point the boys will catch on.

  8. I’m new to blogging and I sure do enjoy reading your blogs. They are very inspirational and have so many wonderful ideas. I was a blog stocker for very long time and yours was one of the ones I was clicking onto daily. Your awesome!!! Thanks.

  9. I need to get some cute signs for my house! Did you make the signs with your boys names & I am a child of God? These are so wonderful and what a great reminders around your house!

  10. I did make my boys “name” boards. I used the same paint that I painted their rooms and hung them above their bedroom door. Since Drake and Dylan share a room, I hung Drakes inside the room above the door. I like how they turned out. However, I’m still looking for a rocket for Davis’. He was the first to point out that he has a rocket room, not an airplane room.

    Are you constantly being critiqued by your kids? I am. {{shrug}}

  11. I have in large letters in our Kitchen/Great Room, “LOVE, JOY and PEACE”. Those are the three things I try to focus on ALWAYS having in home. (The words were inspired from some council given me in my patriarcal blessing.

  12. I love “words”! I have many in my home too. My husband keeps asking me when enough is enogh…I just don’t have an answer…Ok, yes I do…NEVER!

  13. What a great post! I loved it. My favorite quote in my house is…”whatever you are, be a good one.” Abe Lincoln said it and I really like it.

  14. I love all your words! I absolutely love the words that are put directly on the wall. I have plans of adding those in our home once it’s complete.
