I’m Falling for Autumn

I had decided not to post my trip to Canton on Saturday because I didn’t want to be “showy”. However, Jen talked me into it. I got a lot this trip because I knew I won’t be back until the Spring. I’m posting this because I’m really into home decor right now and hopefully you’ll get some ideas and inspirations. I’m constantly being inspired by you.

Here’s my fall decor in my living room. I’ve gotten all of it from Canton over the past 2 years, except the fall flowers and candles.

I saw this mirror and had to have it! It was only $28. I wasn’t sure where I was going to put it but is spoke to me. 😉

Fun little BOO iron

I didn’t get these jeweled pumkins in Canton. The boys and I made them together a couple years ago. They were an Oriental Trading kit. I usually try to do order several fun projects for the kids school parties and just for fun at home.

The two urns are new. I saw them up high on a shelf and after I purchased them and they brought them down, I was worried that they would be too big. They’re a little bigger than I had imaged, but I think they work.

I haven’t even started decorating my bedroom, yet. I have curtains but that’s about it. I saw these cool sconces and thought they’d add a little femininity to my room. I’ll arrange some flowers in them. One day I’ll find a print or mirror to go in between them.

This is what i bought with the money my Mother-in-law sent me for my birthday. It’s my favorite purchase! It’s in my entry way.

White finial. This won’t be it’s permanent home. I’ll wait until I put my fall decor out and find a better spot.

Black stand w/ glass cover. I bought the green acorns and red nuts and glued them together to make this arrangement. It’s permanent place will be on my mantle after the holidays.

I found this key for $3.50! I’m going to make this board.

Give Thanks iron

I bought these iron angels to go on top of some presents for Christmas. I have several “angels” in my life and I to be sure they know how much I appreciate them.

Tip: Paint screws black! Bere’s a before and after pic.

I bought some other odds and ends stuff. I hope you got a new idea. If you’ve posted your projects or home decor make sure you leave me a comment so I can see it! Do you enjoy decorating for fall?

Project Ideas

I got an e-mail from my friend Diana a while ago with these fun DIY project ideas. I’m going to look into doing this as a Christmas gift.

I hope you’ve gotten some fun ideas. Thanks Diana! What projects are you working on?

UPDATE: Diana just e-mailed me 2 more ideas… Enjoy!!

I think I understood in her e-mail that this frame board is to hang necklaces. Beautiful! I’d give her a ‘Great Tip Award’ if she had a blog. 🙂

I Have the Best Sister!

I’ve just got to brag a bit and give my sister her proper props!! I got a huge package in the mail last Friday. After my honey confirmed it wasn’t from him, I opened it and was in complete shock and awe!!

Not only did Lisa research and find exactly what I wanted for my birthday (these two wall iron pieces), she rounded up cash from my family to pay for it. She’s seriously THE BEST!! Thank You! Thank you to everyone who chipped in and especially thank you to Lisa who did all the work to make the day such a special one.

Back story: In August when we went to Canton, I showed Lisa these wall hangings I wanted for my birthday. I used much restraint and decided to wait until September. Well, to make a long sad story short, I couldn’t go to Canton in September. I was really bummed out because this is all I wanted for my b-day and now I had to wait until October. (It’s only 1 weekend a month).

Lisa to the rescue!! I was so surprised and excited. (Yes, jumping up and down screaming, the whole bit.) I waited until my actual birthday to hang them up. They’re the perfect size, color, and decor I needed for that space. YOU ROCK LISA!!!

If you don’t already read Lisa’s blog you should! She’s so freaking funny! (And obviously wonderful!) 😉

Welcome Katrina!

Summer Theme

I want to welcome Katrina to the blogging world! Yeah! Be sure to check out her blog and leave her a nice comment. You’re going to love all her decor ideas.

So I’ve practically been begging Katrina to take pictures of her seasonal table top decor. She finally did. Katrina decorates her formal dining room table according to the season. It’s like nothing I’ve ever seen before! It’s so beautiful and every arrangement is unique, warm, and colorful. I feel like she should show it to the world. So enjoy!

btw: I added the rolling pin picture into the post below. Katrina said it was her fav so in her honor I added it. I also added a link to my boys Cowboy bathroom.

As for Me and My House, We will Serve the Lord

ONEHM has challenged us to post pics of our homes. I really hesitated posting mine, because only the boys rooms are finished. I have a ton of painting and window treatments to do. We moved in 1 1/2 years ago but I had a baby. I guess I just thought I’d be farther along by now. Ok, enough of my disclaimer. (I know that was silly.)

Here’s my formal dining room. I want to paint it soon – any suggestions? I’m still looking for fabric for the window treatment.

Kitchen. After I paint the kitchen, I’m going to have vinyl lettering put under the rolling pin that says, ‘I Kiss Better Than I Cook!’. (he he)

Here is my second flower arrangement attempt. Now I need to figure out what color to paint my bathroom and what kind of faux paint for this niche. Any suggestions?

I’ve posted a lot of decor stuff from my house already:

I’ve had so much fun seeing everyone’s homes and getting tons of decorating ideas. Be sure to share your’s too!

More Pics of Lisa’s House

I’m back in town. Lisa did an amazing job watching my kiddos so my honey and I could reconnect and have some alone time. The cabin was secluded deep in the Oklahoma mountains. I read, slept, ate alot, and snuggled with my honey. (he he) It was a much needed break. Thanks for all your encouraging comments while I was gone. Sorry, I can’t post any of the picture we took. (he he)

Here’s more pics of Lisa’s house since she hasn’t posted them on her blog yet.

I was so bummed, I left Lisa’s trees in my garage. We bought two to go on each side of the couch.

Here’s Lisa’s amazing flat screen. Her builder made her a built-in electronics cupboard.

So we got the vase, rafia, and this cabinet all at Wal-Mart! Cabinet $80, Vase $25, Rafia $6, a wall completed with one-stop shopping in less than a hour. Priceless!

Here’s all angles of her dining room. I’m loving the iron and tin we got at Canton.

I love this tin mirror. Great pic Lisa!

I think she needs this amazing rectangle tin that’s about 3 feet long to go above her door. I LOVE these candle sconces we got at Kirklands. I might just grab it for her when I go to Canton in Sept. Shhh. don’t tell. 😉

This is my favorite wall. Lisa is going to spray paint those pine TV trays red and use 2 as her end tables next to her couch. Awesome idea!

Mavens

Here’s my crazy Maven’s friends! I know you’ll recognize many in the photo as fellow bloggers.

Here’s Cheryl and Julie who I wish blogged. Their stories are hilarious! I’ve got to say that Julie is laughing in every picture I take of her. 😉

Here’s Tatiana and Lisa. We didn’t share many tips this time. I took the place mats I made as my tip but no one had a circular table, so no one could use it. Bummer. Tatiana was host so we got to see her amazing new house. Yeah for her! She drew for the door prizes. Luckily I won!! this is what she made for us.

I can’t tell you how much this means to me. I’m a loser and hadn’t heard this quote before. I grew up in a house where there was nothing but work, I started my career in a dental office at age 15, and I’m a work-a-holic still today. I’ve been trying very hard to plan fun things for my kiddos and plan family vacations but it’s something that I struggle with. I feel like I should be productive all the time, work on making myself a better person, and keep focus on my goals.

So having this quote in my kitchen as a constant reminder by a Prophet brought me to tears when I put it up in my kitchen. I have such a hard time smelling the roses and relaxing. I feel like I still have too much to prove.

Thanks Tatiana!! You’re also looking at Christmas gifts I’m giving away this year. I hope this powerful message will enlighten others the way it has me. (Don’t worry – the people I’m giving it to don’t read my blog.)

Fun Day Monday

Here’s the iron I bought at Canton last Saturday. I’m so pleased at how it turned out. We had a bit of trouble hanging it yesterday. I went a little over board on the screws because I wanted to be sure it didn’t fall and hit me while I am sleeping.

I couldn’t resist, I tried all of the stuff Lisa bought at Canton in my house. (he he) It’s not every day you get to try it on before you buy it. Unfortunately, this candle holder is the only thing I found a place for (in my dining room). Bummer. I’ll have to add two of them to my birthday list. 🙂

I have a standing babysitter every Thursday to help keep my sanity during the summer. However, this week I switched and asked him to babysit on Monday. Lisa and I went and saw the Bourne Ultimatum and then went to a salvage tin shop. I loved the movie. It left me wanting more… but I really liked it.

Lisa was inspired by Rochelle’s headboard, she’s going to make one similar for her guest bedroom.

I forgot to post this for the Grandparents. Sunday, Davis had a lesson about Christ’s resurrection. His teacher is very creative and comes up with ways to keep Davis attentive during class. This week she cut up a white sheet and they wrapped up Davis in “linen” just like they did for Christ. To his delight, he got to take some of it home. As you can imagine, this is what happened when we got home.

The boys were having so much fun trying to wrap each other up. Drake seriously wanted in the action but thank goodness he was too timid to get involved. Of course, it ended up with Dylan getting hurt and the strips of cloth in the trash. But it was fun while it lasted. 🙂

My Girly Weekend

Can you believe it, 2 girls night outs in one week! You can tell all my friends are back in town. Yeah! Rochelle gave all the details on our very adventurous Friday night.

We had an exciting evening in Dallas with dinner, a movie, a fire drill, and ice-cream. Yes, I said fire drill. With only about 20 minutes left in the film, Becoming Jane, the fire alarms went off and we had to exit the building. It was actually kind of a relief to me because I had to go potty really bad! Luckily they paused the movie and after a bathroom break we were able to go back in a finish the movie. Good thing too because I wasn’t going to drive an hour and pay $9 to see it again.

*Spoiler Alert* If you don’t know about Jane’s life and want to go to the movie surprised, skip the next paragraph.

I really enjoyed the movie. Don’t hate on me, but I’m not a Jane Austen fan. I’ve seen a lot of films based on her books recently because several of my friends are fanatics. It’s enjoyable but not my first pick on a film. I’ve got to say that I loved the ending in this movie. I felt that it wrapped it up nice and neat and gave me closure. I really wish that Jane had given the shy wealthy guy a chance. Seriously, I think he had a lot more character than she was willing to admit. Too bad she ended up alone and never married in real life. Bummer! I feel more for her sister. At least Jane had her romance novels to fill her cup. I wonder what her poor sister did? I would think that after having had love and losing it in the war that you would be able to find it again?

Lisa and I had some sister time in Canton on Saturday. This is all the stuff she got. I got the big iron on the left, but you can only see part of it. We’ll hang it today and I’ll take a picture. Jason gave me a $50 limit. Can you believe that?!? He’s never done that before and at first I was insulted. Then I remembered that next month is my birthday! I’ll make up for it then. (he he)

We went to Canton because Lisa moves into her house this weekend. Yeah! I’ll be driving down to help her unpack and decorate. Her house is amazing. This is not your average starter home – she has such great taste and it’s going to be eye popping. I can’t wait for this weekend.
