The Best Teachers Ev-ah!

Since the day I featured these beauties on Tip Junkie; I just knew that one day I would have to make them. Well it finally happened last week!  I printed out this darling apple circle card which comes with a coordinating tag. {{squeal in delight}}

I made the teachers end of the school year appreciation gifts – Crayon Initial Plaques. They were so much fun to make and were really easy.

(I printed their names on textured white paper, cut the crayons, and hot glued them to frames. I took out the glass but you could also use shadow boxes.)

Davis had the best year thanks to this lovely lady!  Seriously, these four angels were brought into our lives at just the right year.  With Jason traveling and getting his MBA this year has been so hard on me.  I took SO much comfort knowing that the boys were in good hands.

Being this was Davis’ first year in Intermediate school – it could have been disastrous.  Instead he said it was amazing!

You can just tell how much these women just adore Davis.  I adore them as well!!

Dylan is so sad to be leaving Christina’s class.  {{She was also Davis’ 3rd grade teacher.}}  Luckily they’ll be seeing her often now that the Bachelorette is back on the tube.  Can you say “Girls Night!”  {{giggle}}

These teachers were deliberately brought into my boys life this year and they made all the difference in the world.  Dylan only missed 2 on the Reading TAKS and Davis only missed 2 on the Math TAKS.  {{total opposites as usual}}

They will both be in Gifted & Talented next year and I believe whole-heartedly it is because they have had the most dedicated and understanding teachers who have pushed when they needed to and have loved them always.  I feel so very blessed to be acquainted with such amazing women.  They are truly teachers who go above and beyond.

E is for Ethics

The boys and I have been making our way through this book, E is for Ethics. I won it at the Fishful Thinking Booth at Mom 2.0 and the boys love it.

Each chapter is really short maybe 2-3 pages and they focus on one moral dilemma. At the end it asks questions that you can discuss with your kids.  It’s been a really easy way to arm my kids with solutions of difficult situations before they happen.

It’s also been fun to bond with them and snuggle at bedtime.  Now that they’re getting older, I have to find excuses.  {{wink}}

We’re Kickin’ It

I’ve been wanting to get the boys in martial arts for years.  We finally have some free time and some extra dough so I jumped at the opportunity to sign them up.

I’m hoping it will arm them with some new skills, physical discipline, and self-esteem.

So far it’s going great!

Not only do they look uber handsome in their uniforms, they’re taking it seriously and learning a lot.

I can’t tell you how proud of these two I am. They’ve come a long way and are still the best of friends. I’m honored the Lord thought I would have what it takes to raise them. I had serious doubts for many years. The more responsibility I give them – the more they thrive. It’s so fun to see.

Lemons into Lemonade

Somehow we came up 6 pills short of the boys medication this month. {{drat!}}

Luckily we ran out the day of the boys doctors appointment. So, instead of sending them to school unmediated {{unfocused and completely silly}} I decided to embrace the crazy and take all the boys to Chuck E. Cheese.  It was the loudest place I could think of where they wouldn’t stick out, they would blend in.

I was so bummed when we got there and I realized that I had left my camera charging at home.  But we were able to get some fun pictures when we got back.

What could have been a very frustrating day for all of us, turned into a Doctor Ditch Day full of games, tickets, and prizes.  We all had a great time and turned lemons into lemonade.

The Best Apology

Dylan tripped over Davis and he ended up getting hurt. Being Davis, he cried and was hysterical as his toe nail was pulled off. Dylan felt terrible and apologized but Davis couldn’t forgive him right then.
The next morning I woke up to see this sweet apology from Davis on the refrigerator. It was a proud moment as a parent.

Spray Park

We were invited to a special celebration at the park for dear friends who have adopted a darling 6 year old little girl. I could not be happier or prouder of Calli who has worked so hard to make the transition of her new daughter the best one possible.

I see such strength and determination when I look at Calli. She has overcome incredible challenges this past year and has really fought to unite her family. She’s such an inspiration.

The boys absolutely loved the park as it had everything; a pavilion to eat at, playground to play on, and a spray park to get wet even if you’re fully clothed.

Dylan said that it was the best day he’s ever had! I tried not to take offense. {{wink}}

Invention Convention

Dylan’s class had an Invention Convention where they each showcased something that they invented. Dylan decided to invent a contraption that would stop him from leaning back in his chair. This has become a huge problem both a school and at home.

Jason was out of town {{of course}} so his engineering skills were seriously missed as Dylan and I created a prototype. We used large plastic coin collectors, bolted on an “L” brace, then made it look legit with some black spray paint.

We made it work. He was proud of it which is really all that matters.

Several of his classmates cracked us up with their invetions which mostly had to do with food! {{giggle}}

This little sweetie made a monster who’s eyes folded down into cup holders and the top of it’s head was a food tray. It was on wheels for easy transportation. Girlfriend takes her meals seriously.

Another invention that had us laughing was the “snack hat”. It is fully loaded with carbs and sugar snacks with a handy dandy door that’s conveniently located right above the bill. It was hysterical!

Here’s Drake eating a snack from the snack hat. These darling cuties know how to share. Drake was stoked!

Preschool Picnic

For the last day of preschool, all the classes gathered together for a picnic at the park. It was a fun day for the kiddos and they enjoyed saying good bye to their teachers and classmates.

However, these guys are friends for life and we expect to see a lot of them this summer.

You know how I hate to see a party end! So I invited these sweeties over to keep the entertainment happening all afternoon long.

Emily will start Kindergarten next year. {{teary}} I cannot even explain to you how much my heart aches because I will miss her so much. She has the best giggle that just lights up a room. Drakie and I will miss her every Monday as that was our play date day. {{snif snif}}

Nerf Wars – Bring It!

My youngest brother Scott came to visit us for a few days. He just finished up his semester at college and was leaving for Louisiana the following week and wanted to check in.

I woke up to a massive Nerf war going on upstairs.

I don’t think Scott knew what he was in for when he started shooting Davis. This one is not playin’ around with his sniper semi-automatic.

It was such a fun morning and the boys totally bonded with my brother. It was a nice change of pace and it was great to reconnect with him.

We now have several more inside jokes to entertain us. {{bwaaahaa!}}

What We Were Doing During Pack Meeting

Pack meeting in Scouts is a very serious thing. It’s a time where the boys are recognized for their hard work and rewarded with shiny things to attach to their shirts.

It’s a big deal.

But only if you’re over 4.

Drake grabbed my camera and spent his time in pack meeting taking silly pictures of all the kids sitting next to us.

Like I said, pack meeting is serious… unless you’re a Turk.
