What a Week!

So it’s been a very busy week and it’s completely cut into my blogging time. (ha ha) Monday was full of cleaning house, laundry, Carpooling kids to Scout Camp, and a friend over for Dylan. Who asks me every hour, when he’ll get to go to Scout Camp?

Tuesday it was my turn to help out with Scout Camp. We took the boys to the Star Wars Exhibit at the Science Museum and swimming afterwards. It was such a fun time and I can’t wait to take the rest of the family.

Wednesday, straitened up the house again. (Boy, what a mess it turns into when Dad’s in charge.) Dylan had 2 friends over so there was a lot of refereeing. Drake started saying a new word, “er you go”. He’s soo funny. His 3 “words” are now, ‘Uh Oh!’, ‘woof’, and ‘er you go’. 2 of which are 2-syllable words. What happened to ‘Mom’!?!

Wednesday night I put all my home organizational ideas and philosophies in a fun binder. I’m working on a project with a friend that we’ll reveal when it’s completed. Yeah! I went over to her house on Thursday and Friday to work on it.

Friday night the whole family went to twilight camp for the end of Scout Camp. We ate, the boys put on a couple skits, told jokes, made smores, and had a great time.

I didn’t have time to make a salad for the twilight scout camp Friday night. So Jason went to Wal-Mart and bought a fiesta pasta salad at the deli. I’ll be honest with you it looked so disgusting that I didn’t even taste it. However, that night 3 people people raved about it and asked for the recipe! So what did I do? I just smiled and said, “Thank you!” ;-} Jason and I got a huge laugh out of it later and I had to apologize to him for dissing his choice of pasta salads.

Reader

Already?!?

I got this book today from Usborne Books, and WOW it doesn’t leave anything to the imagination. I think I’ll wait to read this with Davis until he’s 9 1/2. I would reccomend it but know that it’s a very “PC” book and in conflict with 3 of my conservative views. I’m actually glad it is because it will open up some needed dialogue.

Mavens

So a bunch of my friends get together on the 2nd Thursday of every month to play games, socialize, and share tips. We’re the Mavens! I just got the list of tips from last week and I thought I’d share the goodies!

  1. http://www.powells.com has a Jane Austen action figure
  2. You can check out videos for 3 weeks at the Haltom City library just in case you go on vacation.
  3. Daddy’s Footprints Poem
  4. Mexican Soup recipe
  5. You can buy liquid soap in a vintage container at Ross or Marshall’s for under $5 and also makes a great gift. (No more refilling)
  6. Funky Monkey boutique has great stuff
  7. Neutragina has a self tanner with SPF in it.
  8. To get your child to wash their hands better, there’s a squid soap that squirts “ink colored soap” and requires 2 minutes of washing to get off.

Top Ten Favorite things in my house!

10. My Closet. I’ve put a lot of time into organizing my closet and I love it! I love how it feels when I walk inside it. It’s somewhat decorative with colors like marroon and lime green, it’s soo organized it makes me tingle with pride, and it’s the perfect size for me. (Pictures taken before Father’s Day.)

9. My iron banister. The iron stairs with the iron hall way upstairs is the reason we bought the house. It has so much peronality that I don’t have to add much decorating to it. Every time I look up, I smile.

8. My Computer. I do all my hobbies these days on my computer, I have a website Executive Homemaker, I’m addicted to blogging, I love to scrapbook digitally, and I love making gifts, games, and activities for my family and friends on Microsoft Publisher.

7. This family picture. It is our first outdoor family picture taken in Dec 2005. We knew that we wanted to get pregnant again soon and our life would never be the same. It hangs above our fireplace and I smile everytime I see it because I wonder if my life will ever be that simple again.

6. My Family Home Evening wall. I’m not an interior decorator by any stretch of the imagination, but to me this wall has the perfect balance of design and function. (The lighting is really bad, sorry.)

5. My camera. I was on the photojournalism staff in high school and I’ve always been addicted to pictures. I’ve lost all my technical knowledge but I still have the passion for photos. Also, my boys are completely crazy the majority of the time to it’s so nice to have pictures that capture the beautiful moments we have.

4. My boys bedrooms. For lots of obvious reasons plus: They are completely decorated and finished. I put a lot of love into those rooms and the boys do a great job of keeping them clean. I love how I feel when I’m inside them. I love that they reflect each of their personalities. I love that I was able to give them a room that I always dreamed of but never had myself.

3. My “Boys will be Boys” stair way with professional pictures of the boys that are silly, like the boys in tuxedos sticking out their tongues, the boys bear chested in swim trunks, the boys holding Drake while he was sleeping at 1 month old, etc. It’s a wall that I try to keep beautiful but silly – just like our little family.

2. The cross-stitch of the Dallas Temple where Jason and I were married (I don’t have a picture). My grandmother made it and it is very dear to me. My love for my husband grows more deeply each year. I feel so blessed that we choose to be married for eternity. I have it in our game room next to these pictures of the boys with a quote above in vinyl lettering that says, “As for me an my house we will serve the Lord.”

1. My Bed. I love to take naps and sleep in. It’s also my favorite place to read a book and spend with my honey. (he he)

So what are your top-ten favorite things in your house?!? (Make sure you give me a comment when you post yours so I can check it out!)

FYI: Rochelle has posted pictures of her house. She’s an amazing decorator and has so many cool tips!

Happy Father’s Day!

For father’s day this year the boys got Jason a watch. This one is casual so he’ll wear it when he wears shorts. Don’t ask. ;-}

I surprised him with…

…wood hangers! No more plastic hangers! I know this seems a little silly for a guy. But Jason thought it was soo cool. He has always wanted wood hangers. The best part is that I got them at Target, 24 hangers for $15! YEAH! What a steal. Here are more pictures of the closet.

So the boys put bows on the closet door. Dylan told me that it was a face and the door knobs where the nostrils. lol

Dinner and a Movie – Eakins Style

Great chew and show!! Boy do we need supervision when we’re together.

Julie is going to love me when she hears I put this picture up! This is how I thank her for having us over for dinner, swimming, and a movie outside. ;-} Makes you want to invite us over, doesn’t it. (lol) Anwyay, we had such a blast! I left around 9pm to take Drake home but the rest of the family partied until 11:30 pm. Julie & Cheryl, you rock!

Saturday was a busy day with book club, birthday party at Let’s Jump, and dinner with Cheryl and Julie (oh yeah, and their families). There’s nothing like good friends.
