Swim Team

We’ve been living and breathing swim team this summer. It’s been a great experience for the boys. This year Lisa, Wendy, and I have a great system set up as we are trading off watching the 3 year olds. Whoohoo!

This means that one watches Drake, Emily, and Tyson in the comfort of our own home while the other two are volunteering and getting the kiddos to their proper races. It’s been so nice to be completely focused and able to participate and encourage the kids. This year by far has been the most enjoyable. {{hugs to good friends}}

Davis is continuing to make great improvements and is enjoying it a lot more.

Since this is Dylan’s first year, I started him out with only 1 race per meet. Now he now is up to 5 or 6 and really excelling. I think he’s found his groove as he rocks at the breast stroke!

Family Time: A Wild Ride

Last week we had some fun family bonding time. The boys have a list of things they want to do this summer and so we were able to mark some off the list. They were stoked!

We saw Ice Age in 3D.

Another day we went to Mountasia and rode the go karts, bumper cars, and played arcades.

It was 104 degrees outside but you wouldn’t know it by the smiles on my boys faces. We raced as a family and dominated the track!

Good times. {{grinning ear to ear}}

The Price of Beauty

I’ve been getting my eye brows waxed and threaded for years. I have my Dad’s unibrow and have to tame it often. However, the past 2 times I’ve gotten them waxed, I’ve gotten burned!

Seriously – it really hurts. I don’t know if it’s the extra sun exposure or the acne cream I’m using but something is making my eye lids extra sensitive. I guess I’m going to have to stick to threading. {{sheesh!}}

On a happier note, I’ve recently gotten some hair pieces and I’ve been having a blast playing around with them. It’s amazing how hair completely changes your entire look.

Here’s my new pony tail! {{squeal in delight}} Usually I just wear it at home as it makes me feel completely girly in my barbie hair. I finally got brave enough to wear it on my girls day on Wednesday.

Wendy, Lisa, and I went to the ghetto part of Dallas and went shopping for fabric (over off Harry Heins road). It was a bit scary at first but we found some fun fabrics and embellishments and had quite the adventure.

4th of July

We’ve had some fun July 4th weekends in the past but this one was my favorite! 3 boats, 2 sea doos, 5 families, and 1 island = heaven!

There was something to do for everyone: tubing, knee boarding, skiing, swimming, jet skiing, laying out, eating, exploring the island, boating, and relaxing.

We found this little island in Lake Texoma and set up camp for the day.

The kids had a great time exploring, finding treasures, and collecting sea shells.

For lunch I made these Pesto Focaccia Sandwiches for all the adults. They were a hit! I made 2 loaves and I wish that I had had time to bake another loaf. For some reason I crave carbs when out on the lake and these sandwiches hit the spot. Huge thanks to Megan for the idea and recipe!

We all had such a great day!

On our way to see the fireworks we found roadside BBQ and had to try it. Seriously – it was so yummy! Once we were completely fat & happy we spent the rest of the evening watching the lights in the sky.

Drake was hysterical during the fireworks. This is the first year he hasn’t been freaked out by them. It was such a wonderful day spent with friends and making memories.

Super Saturday Crafts

I’m back on the Enrichment committee at church and last week we planned our Super Saturday, which is an all day craft event. Here are the projects we’re going to do. {{YAY!!}}

We wanted to not only pick fun projects that people in several different age groups would like to do, we also wanted to pick projects that will teach a skill. Each of these items can be given as a gift or teach a skill that you can use in several different ways.

1. Free Project – Wood Plugs

2. Reindeer Cupcake Pops

Wouldn’t these make fun neighborhood gifts and teacher gifts this Christmas? I can’t wait to learn how to make them.

3. Ribbon & Beaded Bookmarks

Chanda makes these and they’re adorable! They would also make a fun and inexpensive gift.

4. Family Home Evening Magnet Board

5. Church Tote Bags

We wanted a sewing project but the logistics of doing one is very complicated. So instead, we decided to monogram bags. I’ll warn you, monogramming anything is highly addictive! {{giggle}}

6. Christ Plate

7. Halloween Shadow Boxes

8. Nativity Blocks (Set of 3 or Middle only). Adhering Thoughts and Say it on the Wall both sell it.

We’re offering the middle one only because it would also make a great gift and it’s easy!

9. Christmas & Birthday Tags

It should be a really fun day. If you’re looking for more craft ideas or easy gift ideas here are more links:

Drake Had a Baby

So Drake has been constipated for about 5 days and I’ve been giving him some medication to help out. It worked and the other morning he came to me and said he had a baby!

I’m not kidding, the poor little guy thinks he went through labor and delivered his own 2 lb baby. {{fall on the floor laughing}} It wasn’t fun to clean up – but he was happier and very proud of his accomplishment.
