The Best Apology

Dylan tripped over Davis and he ended up getting hurt. Being Davis, he cried and was hysterical as his toe nail was pulled off. Dylan felt terrible and apologized but Davis couldn’t forgive him right then.
The next morning I woke up to see this sweet apology from Davis on the refrigerator. It was a proud moment as a parent.

Evolution

Yes, I believe in evolution. Not the kind where we have evolved from monkeys, but the kind that slowly happens over time as you overcome your trials and find your purpose in life.

I’m an “all or nothing” kind of gal. So when when I first started blogging three years ago, my goal was to make my blog as close to my real life as possible. Well, as my blogs and sites have evolved my free time has too. I was no longer able to keep my goal for my personal blog and with that came consequences. Since I couldn’t blog the way I wanted to – I went private.

Since going private, I have really missed the “deadline” that sort of comes when being accountable for updating a blog. I’ve actually missed a lot of the perks of having a personal blog. Therefore, I decided to completely reinvent it to reflect myself as I am now – and stop trying to keep it to where I was at in 2007.

So it’s out with the old…

and in with the new thanks to Kreated by Kelsey who designed it for me!

I do have a disclaimer here that I hope you’ll understand and always remember when reading:

Disclaimer: These memories have been formatted to fit your computer screen.

What does that mean? Well, it means that each post is a very brief reenactment of what actually happened. I have literally taken 10 minutes to slap it up and it doesn’t tell the entire story. Why? ‘Cuz I’m crazy busy and there are personal things that, even though I want to, I just can’t share.

So please consider this blog a “grateful journal” of sorts that mainly focuses on how I’m “embellishing” my fabulously flawed life. And Ladies I am seriously flawed. No one knows that better than I do.

Since we’re talking about evolution, I thought it would be fun to show you a quick gimps at my evolution in life and the journey that I’ve been on. It’s been a wild ride.

Memorial Day on the Lake

I think this is the first year {{ever}} I can truly say that I’m looking forward to summer. I’m going to really enjoy not getting up at 5:30am, I’m going to enjoy being at the pool with friends, and I’m going to enjoy time with my family.

It’s taken us longer than most, but we’ve finally found our rhythm and what works for us. We are surrounded by amazing friends who put up with our quirky nature which makes all the difference in the world.

We’re just a bunch of nuts.

We’re embracing it and enjoying every minute of it.

We love being at the lake but Davis likes builing sand cities even more! {{wink}}

I hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day with your family. Huge hugs to all who have served our country! I can’t thank you enough for your sacrifice and service. I feel honored to live in a country that has so many freedoms and opportunities.

Memorial Day Weekend on the Lake

Saturday was the first day this year that we took out the Sea Doos. Jason’s finally done traveling. {{fingers crossed}}
We met up with several other families for a wet and wild ride.

Dylan was entertained the entire day by Rhett. I just love these two little cuties. Rhett most cerainly brings out the best in my little guy.

As much fun as had, I was completley traumatized by the people watching around us. There were two 18 month old babies in the water without floaties, with out supervision, and without swim diapers. {{sigh}}

At one point, a little girl was holding one of the 18 month olds and she was dunking her in the water without realizing it. Suddenly you can tell she can’t breath and vomits all over the place. The little girl realizes something went wrong and lets her go. The 18 month year old toddles off like nothing happend. {{gasp}}

At this point I’m making my way to the shore and bribbing Drake and Rhett to get out of the water as it’s “cookie time!” The last thing I wanted was those two cuties drinking it. {{grodie!}}

There were several instances like that. I could not get over the irresponsible parenting that I was witnessing. Don’t get me wrong, I had a great time. I just couldn’t help but be so grateful that my boys came to my home. With their personalities and special needs, I can’t imagine what they would have turned out like if they didn’t have a mama bear noticing their differences and trying to get them proper help.

Davis learned how to wake board and Dylan had a blast riding on the tubes.

Lisa came with us and we always have the best time together. Unfortunately, this isn’t her baby she’s holding. {{they’re still working at it}} She’s a natural and will be the best mother when her time comes.

Here we are reinacting the wild ride we just had. Lisa got aggressive and was fishtailing to soak me. {{which worked several times – I was dripping wet}} All of a sudden she took a turn too fast and FLEW off the sea doo. It was hysterical.

I learned quickly that it’s “fight or flight” when on a jet ski with my sister. I couldn’t fishtail as good as she can, but dude I can book it! I finally made it to the “no wake zone” and was safe from her amuzement. {{wink}}

Spray Park

We were invited to a special celebration at the park for dear friends who have adopted a darling 6 year old little girl. I could not be happier or prouder of Calli who has worked so hard to make the transition of her new daughter the best one possible.

I see such strength and determination when I look at Calli. She has overcome incredible challenges this past year and has really fought to unite her family. She’s such an inspiration.

The boys absolutely loved the park as it had everything; a pavilion to eat at, playground to play on, and a spray park to get wet even if you’re fully clothed.

Dylan said that it was the best day he’s ever had! I tried not to take offense. {{wink}}

Invention Convention

Dylan’s class had an Invention Convention where they each showcased something that they invented. Dylan decided to invent a contraption that would stop him from leaning back in his chair. This has become a huge problem both a school and at home.

Jason was out of town {{of course}} so his engineering skills were seriously missed as Dylan and I created a prototype. We used large plastic coin collectors, bolted on an “L” brace, then made it look legit with some black spray paint.

We made it work. He was proud of it which is really all that matters.

Several of his classmates cracked us up with their invetions which mostly had to do with food! {{giggle}}

This little sweetie made a monster who’s eyes folded down into cup holders and the top of it’s head was a food tray. It was on wheels for easy transportation. Girlfriend takes her meals seriously.

Another invention that had us laughing was the “snack hat”. It is fully loaded with carbs and sugar snacks with a handy dandy door that’s conveniently located right above the bill. It was hysterical!

Here’s Drake eating a snack from the snack hat. These darling cuties know how to share. Drake was stoked!

Lisa’s Message Room

Room Before

My sister Lisa is currently getting her message, RTT, and cranial therapy licenses. She has a passion for healing and hope to specialize in pediatrics and help children with special needs and other physical problems.

She’s planning on working out of her home and is converting her work out room into a message room where you’ll find the relaxation of a mini spa.

Thanks to Toni with Design Dazzle, we picked the perfect spa shade and started painting.

We always have a blast when we’re together.

Drake loved the transformation but was very confused why we were painting his room? Yes, the boy thinks that this is his room at Lisa’s house as we store a bunch of extra toys in the closet.

Here is the after! {{soothing}}

Preschool Picnic

For the last day of preschool, all the classes gathered together for a picnic at the park. It was a fun day for the kiddos and they enjoyed saying good bye to their teachers and classmates.

However, these guys are friends for life and we expect to see a lot of them this summer.

You know how I hate to see a party end! So I invited these sweeties over to keep the entertainment happening all afternoon long.

Emily will start Kindergarten next year. {{teary}} I cannot even explain to you how much my heart aches because I will miss her so much. She has the best giggle that just lights up a room. Drakie and I will miss her every Monday as that was our play date day. {{snif snif}}

How to Play in the Bayou

Scott and I took the boys out for a walk and when he discovered the small creek in the green belt – he lit up!

You see, we had a bayou in the back of our house and Scott spent his youth in there catching turtles, crawdads, and all kinds of smelly creatures.

The fact that my boys did not play in our green belt was such a travesty to him that he decided to take matters into his own hands and teach my boys how to catch smelly creatures.

He accepted the challenge and we decided to make it a family affair. The boys had a blast trying to jimmy-rig nets and attempt to outsmart the fish.
