Family Reunion

Over the weekend, we went to Jason’s family reunion and celebrated Nana’s 85th birthday. Timing was tough since it meant I would miss Maven’s on Thursday night at Julie’s (who I adore) and RO’s Book Club (her last big hurrah since she’ll in be Utah the entire summer). Just my luck – drat!

However, after the 5 hour drive, we arrived early Friday morning and a few hours later the boys were ready to get wet.

Davis knee boarded for the first time and did a great job! My baby’s growing up.

We spent Friday at Betty & Gary’s (Jason’s mom and step dad) skiing, eating, and catching up.

At the last reunion Dylan was a baby. So this time the boys had lots of cousins their age to play with.

Saturday we packed up and spent the day at the beach. This was my favorite day. D1 & D2 made some new friends and spent the morning playing in the sand and the afternoon in the water.

D3 was a little more of a challenge since he’s still insisting on being with Daddy at every moment. Poor Jason, this separation anxiety is really getting old – for BOTH of us.

We celebrated Nana’s 85th birthday and at one point sat around and told stories. I love watching his family interact with each other. They are loud and proud yet they love each other and are close to their siblings.

Several of Jason’s cousins are bloggersyippee! So as you can imagine we had lots to talk about. I’ll be sure to welcome them properly when I get their blog addresses.

I didn’t take very many pictures – I was busy with D3 and enjoying the day.

Sunday we were back at Jason mom’s, who took the boys fishing. Davis caught a fish. Seriously that kid has some crazy good luck.

Dylan didn’t catch a fish but he caught a log. He quickly mastered the art of his “fish story” and told us all about the fish that got away because he hooked the log instead. Cutie.

Davis grabs my camera every chance he can get and takes lots of random pictures. However, every once in a while he takes a beauty like this one, of Dylan and Toby.

We went skiing one last time Sunday morning, went to church, and then out to lunch. I was a little bummed to have to leave. I adore my MIL and really hit it off with Jason’s family, once again. It was a quick weekend but one that we will remember forever.

Drake took a little nap on the way home but since none of them are fans of sleeping it made for a long ride home. We stopped for gas and the boys each picked out a treat. Here’s D3 with a rice crispy in one hand, Cheetos in the other, watching Blues Clues. Priceless.

High School Musical 2

I have a lot of blogging to catch up on. We moved our anniversary trip to Saturday because we had to have a High School Musical 2 party Friday night! Jason laughed when I informed him. 😉

Everyone had such a great time. However, I will admit that 1/2 way through the movie my kids left and went to play with their toys. All the other kids stayed and watched it.

I don’t know who had more fun the kids or the adults! Here’s my friend, Lisa striking a pose.

Everyone was getting into the signing and dancing! Here’s Tyson (Drake’s BFF).

Funeral, Family, and yes some Fun

We made it home. While we were in Lake Jackson we were able to stay with Jason’s mom and step-dad. We all had such a fun time and it was so nice to be together again. We got to see Nana (Jason’s grandma – pictured above) twice which was a real treat.

With all the loss of loved ones this summer, I can’t stop thinking about how important it is to be prepared. I made this Personal Records Booklet that you can print off free, click here. I’m going to send a copy to both my parents. I have no idea what funeral arrangements they would want and I think it’s so important that a funeral reflects the personality of the loved one.

We were able to take the SeaDoos out on the lake twice over the weekend. Here’s my favorite picture. It’s of Jason and Davis. They’re having some great bonding time this summer and it’s made a big difference in their relationship. Man, Davis is getting so grown up!

Right when we got home, I had to wash the country off the Toby. Right when we got to Lake Jackson he rolled in something gross. I had forgotten about it until we were loading up and then decided that I didn’t want to smell wet dog for 6 hours and decided I’ll wash him when we get home.

We stopped in College Station on our way home and saw Lisa, Billy, and the progress of their house. It’s amazing!! All the way home I was thinking about home decor and everything I could do to it. Then I remembered, it wasn’t my house and will have to let Lisa be in control. (Darn. he he)

Counting My Blessings

…naming them one by one! I end my crazy week with my cup completely full. We spent the day at the lake with the Walls on the SeaDoos and had a great time. At the very end when I was driving the SeaDoo to the dock, Cheryl and Julie’s families showed up on the boat. For some crazy reason, I felt like I had to show off and asked Mike to let me ride his wake. (That totally sounds like I was hitting on him! ha ha) Anyway, back to the story, so I was actually getting a little air on the wakes and remembered Jason was waiting on me at the car. So I tried to catch up to Mike to say good bye, when I realized that I was going about 35 mph and he was turning the boat slightly in my direction. I freaked out and turned!

Needless to say all I can remember doing at least 2 back flips and telling myself to wait until I stopped moving to try and swim up. I totally wish I had that on tape, seriously I would send that baby into Funniest Home Video’s and win $10,000. Mike and the gang caught up to me and were mainly concerned about my well being, while I was more concerned about what score they gave me. It hurt so bad it had to be a 10! I’m just bummed Jason didn’t see it. He would be so proud.

We rushed home, showered, and drove to to Southlake to meet our friends for Dinner Club. (To learn more about how to start a dinner club, click here.) We went to Blue Mesa which was yummy and then over to Rochelle’s for dessert. We laughed, relaxed, and enjoyed the adult time. I feel so incredibly lucky to have these girls as friends! You’re so lucky that they blog because they can be your friends too. They ROCK! Check out Chanda, Rochelle, and Rebecca (not pictured). What a great way to end this week. Now I just need to catch up on all my new blogging friends and it will be complete! What are you grateful for?

What a Week!

So it’s been a very busy week and it’s completely cut into my blogging time. (ha ha) Monday was full of cleaning house, laundry, Carpooling kids to Scout Camp, and a friend over for Dylan. Who asks me every hour, when he’ll get to go to Scout Camp?

Tuesday it was my turn to help out with Scout Camp. We took the boys to the Star Wars Exhibit at the Science Museum and swimming afterwards. It was such a fun time and I can’t wait to take the rest of the family.

Wednesday, straitened up the house again. (Boy, what a mess it turns into when Dad’s in charge.) Dylan had 2 friends over so there was a lot of refereeing. Drake started saying a new word, “er you go”. He’s soo funny. His 3 “words” are now, ‘Uh Oh!’, ‘woof’, and ‘er you go’. 2 of which are 2-syllable words. What happened to ‘Mom’!?!

Wednesday night I put all my home organizational ideas and philosophies in a fun binder. I’m working on a project with a friend that we’ll reveal when it’s completed. Yeah! I went over to her house on Thursday and Friday to work on it.

Friday night the whole family went to twilight camp for the end of Scout Camp. We ate, the boys put on a couple skits, told jokes, made smores, and had a great time.

I didn’t have time to make a salad for the twilight scout camp Friday night. So Jason went to Wal-Mart and bought a fiesta pasta salad at the deli. I’ll be honest with you it looked so disgusting that I didn’t even taste it. However, that night 3 people people raved about it and asked for the recipe! So what did I do? I just smiled and said, “Thank you!” ;-} Jason and I got a huge laugh out of it later and I had to apologize to him for dissing his choice of pasta salads.

Happy Father’s Day!

For father’s day this year the boys got Jason a watch. This one is casual so he’ll wear it when he wears shorts. Don’t ask. ;-}

I surprised him with…

…wood hangers! No more plastic hangers! I know this seems a little silly for a guy. But Jason thought it was soo cool. He has always wanted wood hangers. The best part is that I got them at Target, 24 hangers for $15! YEAH! What a steal. Here are more pictures of the closet.

So the boys put bows on the closet door. Dylan told me that it was a face and the door knobs where the nostrils. lol

Dinner and a Movie – Eakins Style

Great chew and show!! Boy do we need supervision when we’re together.

Julie is going to love me when she hears I put this picture up! This is how I thank her for having us over for dinner, swimming, and a movie outside. ;-} Makes you want to invite us over, doesn’t it. (lol) Anwyay, we had such a blast! I left around 9pm to take Drake home but the rest of the family partied until 11:30 pm. Julie & Cheryl, you rock!

Saturday was a busy day with book club, birthday party at Let’s Jump, and dinner with Cheryl and Julie (oh yeah, and their families). There’s nothing like good friends.
