100th Post! – Blogging o’ Mine!

So for my 100th post (20 posts ago) I was going to video tape myself sing y’all this song that I wrote modified from Bowling for Soup’s song Friends o’ Mine. Needless to say I’ve had many obstacles, I don’t have a digital video camera, I can’t sing, and I don’t have the time to figure it out. 🙁 So here’s the original song and my lyrics.

Blogging o’ Mine

Commenting tons but we made it this far
Some have gone but I forget who they are
Now the withdrawal’s the worst but we get through it fine
Glued to our screens but we’re not lazy
Getting
older but we’re still crazy
I’m so glad that I’m doing this blogging o’ mine!

It started out at a Maven’s group in a most unlikely town
There was some teasing made by me but I tried it out anyhow
We stuck together through the good and bad times
No comments, swaps, girl power all the time
I’m so glad that I’m doing this blogging o’ mine!

And chores, kids, and obstacles did all but break us down
Girls nights, and blogging groups, in every major town
I’ve got your back, you’ve got mine
Like Matthew says, “Let your light so shine!”
And you can always count on me for one last post!

We see the world and the world seems smaller
We’re getting wider but not getting no taller
I know we’ve grown up just a little bit at a time
Glued to our screens but we’re not lazy
Getting older but we’re still crazy
I’m so glad that I’m blogging all the time!

Love Ya! – Laurie

Witch Switch

I’ve finally joined a swap! I’ve been a blog swap commitment-phobe. However, Halloween is my favorite holiday so I’ve decided to join the Witch Switch. If you want to join, do it quickly. It closes Friday.

The guidelines are simple:

1. Everyone makes or buys a gift for another witch that has something to do with Halloween
2. It needs to be around $20-$25 excluding shipping
3. It needs to be in the hands of the Recipient by October 8th.
If you would like to participate please just click here and e-mail her with your name, address, and 5 fun facts about yourself by September 7th. I’ve already started making mine and I’m soo excited about it! My partner will not be disappointed. 😉

Tiara Award

Julie, or crazymamaof6, awarded me the Tiara Award. I am truly honored that she would think of me for this great award. I do actually have my own tiara. I bought it for myself when a friend of mine and I had a shopping day to celebrate my birthday. My 3rd boy was still an infant and I was feeling seriously juked in the girl department.

I award just a couple of the fabulous bloggers I know that have inspired me….

  • Heather from Unwrapped, because she has a kiddo that has some health problems and recently went through surgery. Not to mention, she’s oober creative and just had a girl’s craft night with a bunch of friends. I’m completely inspired by her creations and her mothering.
  • Wendi from Dancin Queen, because I’ve really been impressed by her sincerity and warmth on her blog. She talks a lot about her beliefs and what inspires her spiritually. I feel strengthened and challenged by that.
  • Lacie from Forever Flamingo, because she recently moved away from her amazing group of friends to a very small town. I’m encouraged by her optimism and her consistency in learning to love her new surroundings. I’m also strengthened by her strong faith.

The tiara award is a fabulous thing , pass it on to those that inspire or impress you. Those that might need a boost or a little love. Share it and love it and pass it on!

Private Blogs

Ok ladies. You can’t get me hooked on your blogs and then make it private. Therefore yanking yourself away from me so suddenly. I’m not sure what Jill said or what has caused this sudden rash of needed privacy but it’s just not nice.

I’m sorry I’ve been a bad blogger and haven’t read some of your blogs in 2 weeks. I got caught up in a book and some needed girls nights. I am repentant and am trying my best to catch up.

Therefore, if you read my blog regularly, odds are I read yours and expect an invite! You can e-mail me at laurie[at]turksworks[dot]com. That’s my personal e-mail.

It looks like I’ve already missed the deadlines to contact you personally, like yours Donna & Jen. So if you have a private blog invite me dadgum it. I miss you, I really do.

Pay It Forward

Ok. I finally did it. I’ve been contemplating joining an exchange for months but unable to actually commit. Well, thanks to Mique, Dancin Queen, and Kelly I decided to do this easy one to start.
it’s called the pay it forward craft exchange (PIF), here’s how it works…

I will send a handmade gift to the first three (3) people who leave a comment on my blog requesting to join this PIF exchange. I don’t know what that gift will be yet and you may not receive it tomorrow or next week, but you will receive it within 365 days, that is my promise! The only thing you have to do in return is pay it forward by making the same promise on your blog.

I’m going to extend this to 4 people, since Mique let me slide by as her 4th. Yeah! Who are we kidding, I totally know what I’m going to make. 😉 I always have to have a plan ahead of time. Help me pay it forward by signing up!

What Dessert Are You Most Like?

You Are Cheesecake

Rich, sweet, and simply perfect.
You’re not boring – you’re just the best!

My brunch was a success yesterday! I had so much fun, I forgot to take pictures. Shoot! There ended up being 4 adults and 12 kiddos. The house was a little loud but it was a delight to have my friends over and my kids entertained. One of my friends just had hip surgery so I watched her kiddos for the rest of the day so she could have a break.

We got bad news yesterday. Jason’s uncle was killed in a motorcycle accident on his way home from his mom’s birthday party. It’s such a tragedy. I feel like death has surrounded me this summer and it’s getting closer and closer. First my friends In-laws died in a car accident, then another friend’s mom died of a heart attack, now Jason’s Uncle of a motorcycle accident. I can’t help but worry. Loosing Jason is my biggest fear!

Thankfully last year Jason and I got a living trust. It’s a little pricey up front but it prevents the need of family having to get an attourney and going to probate court in the even of our deaths. If you live in Texas you can contact John Mahoney at (281) 444-2220. He was awesome and made it a wonderful experience instead of a gloomy one. I have peace of mind that my kids will be taken care of if the worst should happen.

Anyway, I’ll be leaving today for Lake Jackson, Texas and will be gone for the weekend for the viewing and funeral. I’ll try to check in. I hope ya’ll have a wonderful weekend!
