Another fabulous swap completed. I’m pretty sure I could get addicted to this. I received the loveliest package from Christie!
She said that when she saw this Rome box, she immediately thought of me. (That’s where I’m dying to travel.) In the meantime, she suggested that I tuck in pictures and wish lists inside. What a beautiful reminder and great tip to help me achieve and look forward to my goal!
She gave me a wallet-sized photo album to showcase some of my best vacation spots. (Notice it’s pink!) I like to have pictures of my kids when I travel so I’ve already inserted a couple of those.
Christie put a lot of thought into this! In my ‘must have travel’ purse she included Pond’s make-up removing towelettes, chapstick, hand sanitizer, lotion, candy, and gum. All things I forget to pack in my rush to get out of dodge.
Thanks so much Christie!! I ADORE my package and felt so special when I received it. I felt like you personally hand picked every item just for me! {{squeal with delight}}
I made her a shell necklace to match any outfit including a swim suit for those tropical vacations
A ‘Peace at Last’ mask she can wear on the airplane to take a relaxing snooze and warn off chit chatty passengers
Fuzzy slippers to keep her feet cozy at the hotel
Christie is a Pride and Prejudice fan, so I made her a Don’t Eat Darcy game. She can play it on the airplane, on a girls trip, or just bring it along for some yummy eye candy. {{giggle}}
Last, but not least, I made her some Pride and Prejudice luggage tags. I was so nervous when I mailed the package, I didn’t want her to be dissappointed. Iwas relieved to find out she liked her package as well. Whew.
If you want to make your own Don’t Eat Darcy game or luggage tags just click on the links and print them out.
My sister, Lisa, came into town over the weekend. So you know what that means – Project Time!!
This time we did a huge make over on my downstairs power bath room. It’s been completely ignored and needed some TLC. Here’s the before picture.
Before (brown iron)
After!!
I’ve been designing this project in my head for months. I had originally planned on doing this in my upstairs guest bathroom but the ceiling isn’t as tall and it’s a funky shape – so the concept wouldn’t work. After much deliberation, I decided to just Go For It!
Lisa took video of the bathroom so you could see it. Thanks Sis!
First, we taped the baseboards and measured out the stripes. I was completely inspired by the trash can (pictured below). I kept the base paint color the same (Monarch Summer Suede) and painted the stripes using BEHR’s Pearlescent Gold Veil. (pictured above)
I purchased all the towels & accessories at Bed Bath & Beyond.
I was inspired by the towels and reproduced the images on them by painting them on canvas. (If you don’t paint, you can have Whitney them for you! She can match any bedding, towels, etc.)
Just my luck, Drake found them in my room last week and decided that he would add some finishing touches. Grrrr!
After way too much time repainting the canvas art, here’s how it looks on the wall. I added some black ribbon to outline it. I decided it needed some kind of border after hanging it on the wall.
We spray painted the iron towel rack and soap holder black.
I used the iron from my banister as the design for the wall. I just traced it onto a posterboard, cut it out, then used it to draw the design onto the wall.
I LOVE it! This is the first room in either of my homes that hasn’t been painted blue, dark blue, light blue, brown, or some sort of neutral color. I’ve decided that this is my new Time-Out spot. If you need me – I’ll be in the bathroom. 😉
Lisa you ROCK!! Thank you so much for all your help and motivation. I love you so much and had the best time painting with you. ‘God made us Sisters, We made us Friends.’ xoxo

Last night was the Anual Valentines Dance at church. It’s the only time that we get to forget we’re adults and kick it old school.
We got down to YMCA…
got our groove on…
and sweat to the Cotton Eye Joe!
There wasn’t however, any rule about keeping your distance or your lips to yourself 😉 Way to go, RO!
Lisa was in town so I talked her into being my date and we had a great time letting our hair down! We got there late and missed the Thriller dance off between a friend of mine and an unsuspecting guy on the dance floor. It’s was like being 14 all over again, complete with old folks glaring at us for being rowdy.
I was amazed at how many songs there were to line dance to. Lisa and I are anti line dancing. Lisa because if she can’t look the best she doesn’t participate and me because I don’t conform.
You like to voice your well thought out opinions on your blog. And if someone doesn’t what you write, you really don’t care! Serious and blunt, sometimes people take your blog the wrong way. But you’re a true and loyal friend to those who truly get you.
We had a good weekend. 2 basketball games for the boys, a double date with friends, and an easy going Superbowl party. The boys had so much fun dressing up like girls, playing the Play Station, and hanging out with friends.
Dylan and I made his Valentine box for school. I just purchased a box from Michaels, had Jason cut a hole in the top (a requirement), and then I bought a wood “D” and glued it on as a handle.
I let Dylan pick out the paper (big mistake – neon red) and then I had to talk him into getting Spiderman stickers to make it more “manly”. I think he did such a great job decorating it. He’s beaming with pride. 😉
With the new year came new teachers at church. They all got amazing ones and so I feel very fortunate. Davis’ teacher made him a binder that he should bring to church each Sunday along with his scriptures. You wouldn’t think this would be a problem, but it has caused some logistical issues.
Therefore, I decorated these 3 totes for each boy for their own books, markers, etc. to take to church. Problem solved.
I’ve had this project in my head for months. I’ve got such a sweet tooth!! So, I wanted a “candy shelf” to go under my Refreshments board in the media room. Jason cut the wood to make a box and I painted it black. Easy!
What’s your favorite kind of candy? I’ll have it all stocked when you come over for a movie night. {{giggle}}
