Par-Tay!

I still haven’t finished telling you about my Saturday! We started it off with Breakfast w/ Santa, Secret Santa Shopping at Target, then my Dad (who was up for the day) and Jason made the frame for the playground roof. There’s still a lot to do, but it’s a start.

That night I went to Katri’s big birthday bash! (Katri’s in the middle). Holy cow that girl can throw a party! She had a fresh sushi bar w/ chefs and all. Yummy!!

Since we were all together we couldn’t resist a photo op on Katri’s amazing stair case.

Once the Karaoke started, the party went to the next level! Here are Rebecca’s Greg and Rochelle’s Greg totally hamming it up while singing a duet of β€œI Just Called to Say I Love You.”

I completely LOST IT! Yep, all composure and self-control completely gone. It was hysterical as both Greg’s are laid back and this was very unexpected. (To say the least.)

I can’t sing, but I can dance! Like my air-guitar? Jason, my man, was unable to attend. He went to a different party that night. (We had 3 parties scheduled for that night. Can you say bummer!)

But, look what Jason brought home! As a parting gift, he got this Star Ornament w/ the Legend of the Star poem.

It was so beautiful, I went ahead and put it up on Executive Homemaker. So you can simply print out the card and attach it to a star ornament or star cookies for a quick easy gift.

What activities or games do you like to play/do at parties? I need some ideas.

My Latest Guilty Pleasures

This has seriously been the craziest week! While I’m completing all my Christmas projects (which seem to multiply daily) I’ve been endulging on some new guilty pleasures. πŸ˜‰

My sister, Lisa’s, in town for only 2 days to help me finish these projects and keep me sane. πŸ˜‰ She introduced me to these Sundried Tomato & Basil Wheat Thins. They’re just the right amount of crunch and spice. Yummy!!!

I can’t believe I’m admitting this to you (go ahead and judge) but I have officially completed watching the entire seasons of Laguna Beach and The Hills. {{giggle}}

I’m a bit of a Reality TV junkie. I love the drama! Mainly, because I avoid drama in real life at all costs. Seriously. But there’s just something about rich, beautiful, people who are miserable that make me smile. πŸ˜‰ I know that’s completely naughty of me, but I love it.

Today Lisa and I made 60 ornaments w/ tags while completing the last CD of Season 2 of The Hills. Talk about productive.

What TV show is your guilty pleasure?

It’s a Wrap!

I’ve done it! I’m finished shopping and wrapping my boys Christmas gifts. {{applause}} There’s still so much to do namely Christmas cards…

The only part of the Holiday’s that I dread, is the annual Christmas family photo. Usually, I try to rotate between Easter and Christmas to give myself a break and our pictures some variety.

There’s just something about the stress of finding coordinating outfits, getting a photographer (even if it’s a friend), scheduling the day, getting everyone dressed, and maintaining happiness during the fittings and photo shoot. Anyway, here’s the final product of our holiday photo. Whew! It will have to do. (I need to learn how to photo shop BADLY.)

My brother started a bog about fantasy basketball and asked me to design the header. The black one above is the final product! These were some of my favorites:

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, I made my mom a blog header as well. I love how it turned out and it’s totally her! She’s a red head and lime green is her favorite color. She has yet to post something, but at least I did my part and it’s all ready for her.

That’s my weekend “wrap up”! (he he)

How You Know…

…when you’re done having kids?

(From the Ugly Baby Contest – Crying)

10. When you’re in the store and your sister says, “Isn’t that baby so cute?” You look at the baby and can honestly say no.

9. When you won’t tango with your man while you’re ovulating. πŸ˜‰

8. When you see girls at church that are unkempt, and you no longer have to fight the urge to grab them and do their hair.

7. While planning future family events – you only have the current kiddos in mind and it feels right. (No more planning around pregnancies.)

6. When you give all your baby stuff to your sister and are so excited to have the extra attic room!

5. When you come to terms that the ache you feel for wanting a daughter IS the trial, not the process of raising one.

4. When you no longer linger in the girl clothes department.

3. When you see other mothers and daughters together you think of all the problems you won’t have to deal with instead of all the experiences you’ll miss out on.

2. When you find the words “Honey, it’s time I get snipped.” from your husband the most romantic words, and you fall in love with him all over again.

(Old picture)

1. When you look at a picture of your 3 boys and feel content that your family is complete.

Caramel Apples

I’m ending my Utah trip posts with my Lindsay Lohan impression at the Cirque Lodge. It’s just a few blocks from Melissa’s house. HA HA HA!

Melissa insisted on taking us to the Mountain something or other for caramel apples dipped in white chocolate then sprinkled with apple cinnamon. They were yummy! I’ve never been a caramel apple fan but I was converted.

Our conversation turned to the fact that Melissa has a friend (or two) who are stingy and won’t share their secret recipe for caramel apples, where the caramel actually stays on the apple. I assured her that if I knew anyone that had such a recipe, I’d find it for her.

So here’s my plea! If you have the coveted caramel apple recipe please share with me and put poor Melissa out of her misery. Apparently she’s been attempting the impossible with several failed attempts.

If needed, I’m fully willing to barter for the reciepe with a secret one of my own. {wink}

Make Overs

Lisa’s Texas Hair (Before)

Every 2 years when we are in Utah, Lisa gets her hair done. In fact, the last time she got her hair done was the last time we were there. It always turns out great because I am there for supervisions and direction. πŸ˜‰

This is after! Yeah. Leisl did Lisa’s hair at the David Douglas Salon in the Riverwoods. If you live close be sure to make an appointment. We couldn’t believe the price (cheap!) and she did an amazing job. Leisl’s a brand new blogger with a cop brother-in-law, we did our best to try to persuade her to make her blog public. πŸ˜‰ If she caved, be sure to go over to her blog and leave a nice comment welcoming her.

Melissa Before

In the spirit of make-overs, we took charge to help Melissa get a new post-baby look. Melissa had baby Rachel 4 months ago. We went to Buckle and after harassing the sale attendant for over an hour, we found the perfect outfit that was sassy and slimming.

Here is Melissa After, what do you think?

After the Blogger Luncheon we went to the Tia Pei Market (sp?) to shop for some home decor. Melissa and I found these adorable pumpkin name place holders that we both wanted. I guess I got a little territorial and they made fun of me. We decided to exaggerate it in true blogging style. Don’t mess with me when I’m hosting a dinner. (totally kidding)

Then it was off to Krispy Kreme and then a movie at Melissa’s Northgate Mansion in her Egyptian themed theatre room. (btw: Melissa is taking reservations for Family Reunions, weddings, etc. if you’re looking for a place that can sleep 45 people this is it! It’s amazing.)

We had so many crazy moments and times when I couldn’t breath I was laughing so hard. (Well that and the fact there’s not enough moisture in the air – my lungs dried out.) Here’s one we actually caught on video. Don’t judge – we haven’t all been together in quite a while. We get CRAZY when we’re together.

Fun Friday

Friday was a fun day of shopping and lots of food! First off, Melissa surprised me with a belated birthday gift of all her favorite things. She used this idea I posted on Tip Junkie using a Sonic cup holder! It was so thoughtful and it meant so much to me that she not only was reading TipJunkie but also found it useful. Thanks Melissa!!

Next, Park City and lunch at the Loco Lizard. Yummy! As usual Lisa picked out the best food and we all had to have a taste.

Then, some shopping. Here’s Rachel’s blogging debut. She’s the most beautiful and mellow baby I’ve ever been around. Melissa had to RUB IT IN all day. She’s 4 months old and a very good sleeper. When awake she’s completely content to just hang out.

Here we are trying to keep warm. I borrowed her for a little bit.

Friday night, the financial peeps I’m working with happened to be throwing a seminar, so we went and got motivated to increase our net worth. Afterwards, we had dinner with the co-founder and several new friends.

Yes, we actually went to the Texas Roadhouse Grill. It was a bit weird going to a Mexican restaurant that afternoon and a steakhouse that night – both are BETTER in Texas. (Sorry, truth hurts sometimes.)

We haven’t stopped laughing since we got here…

Let’s Do Lunch!

Hey Ladies, I’m on my way to Utah this weekend! Yeah! My sister, Lisa, and I are flying up this Thursday evening and will only be there for the weekend.

I’m coming up to see my very good friend, Melissa, who after having 3 boys had a girl! Yeah! I can’t wait to see the little princess. (This is the 3 of us in NYC when I was pregnant with Drake.)

If you’d like to meet for lunch this Saturday in Salt Lake, leave a comment and let me know. I’d love to meet you in person!!

Just so you won’t be disappointed when you see me, you should know that I’m short 5′ 3″ and I don’t have a Texas accent. πŸ˜‰

Can We Do It?

Shoot yeah we can! Just call us Bob the Builder and Wendy. πŸ˜‰ Over the weekend Jason and I built a playground for the boys. Let’s just say it was a bigger undertaking than I had imagined.

Here is the left side of the backyard before.

Here is all the dirt I dug out to make a trench so the playground would be level.

Here is what 3 boys do in 75 degree weather while their parents are busy building: Play under the trampoline and stuff your shirt with rocks. πŸ˜‰

Here it is 17 hours later!! Can you believe we still have two A-line roofs, the bottom floor, and a bench to finish? It totally doesn’t look like it should have taken that long. Oh well, we’re completely exhausted but that baby is level and able to withstand 3 boys.

Seriously, the sacrifices we make for our kids. πŸ˜‰

We went to our last Halloween party on Saturday. I can hear you saying “What?”. Every year we have 2 amazing parties on the same night but this year we lucked out and this party was scheduled for the weekend after Halloween. Lucky us. We had such a great time as a family.
