Mavens

So a bunch of my friends get together on the 2nd Thursday of every month to play games, socialize, and share tips. We’re the Mavens! I just got the list of tips from last week and I thought I’d share the goodies!

  1. http://www.powells.com has a Jane Austen action figure
  2. You can check out videos for 3 weeks at the Haltom City library just in case you go on vacation.
  3. Daddy’s Footprints Poem
  4. Mexican Soup recipe
  5. You can buy liquid soap in a vintage container at Ross or Marshall’s for under $5 and also makes a great gift. (No more refilling)
  6. Funky Monkey boutique has great stuff
  7. Neutragina has a self tanner with SPF in it.
  8. To get your child to wash their hands better, there’s a squid soap that squirts “ink colored soap” and requires 2 minutes of washing to get off.

My Friday Off

As some of my friends know, I try to take Fridays off. No housework, no taxiing around town, no cooking. I usually hang out in the media room and watch movies all day but today my man had the day off as well. So, I got to sleep in, he bought me Chipotle for lunch, and we started designing the Tip Junkie blog. I had hoped we’d finish it by this afternoon but of course we’re having ASP script problems. The “Tip of the Day” will be up shortly.

Basically, with Tip Junkie you can put the “Tip of the Day” blog button on your site which will automatically display a new tip every day! YEAH! I had the idea a week ago and have been so excited about it ever since. Hopefully you’ll LOVE it as much as I will. If you have a great tip idea you can submit your blog post to Tip Junkie and have it featured. I’m hoping it will be a fun place people can be inspired and have fun along the way.
I got carried away and changed my blog header. Do you like it? To me she looks like she’s day dreaming about how to simplify her life and how to enjoy the little things.

Vacation Bible School

My kids are LOVING vacation bible school! Here is an easy activity to do with your kiddos. Blow up a balloon with a penny inside. If you move the balloon in a circular motion it spins inside the balloon, displaying centrifugal force. If you can’t explain the science, do it anyway it’s a blast!

Dish Soap and Pepper Object Lesson

When Dylan got home from VBS (Vacation Bible School) today he asked me to fill a bowl with water, pour in some pepper, and then squirt in a little dish soap. (The pepper was repelled by the soap.) He said that God is just like the dish soap and when you follow him evil can’t be around you.

Salt, Pepper, and a Spoon

Davis was not to be out done by his younger brother and filled a saucer will salt. He then sprinkled a bunch of pepper on the top. Took the spoon and rubbed it in his hair and then over the salt and pepper. (The pepper attaches itself to the spoon.) Davis told me that the pepper represents our sins and the spoon represents God. God takes away our sins.

Star Wars Religion

Last week Dylan told me that Star Wars was just like the gospel. It has good and bad in it and Darth Vader was like the devil. 🙂

Stop the Maddness!

Ok, so I admit, I’m completely obsessed with these flower clips (Flower Clip Anonymous here I come). I mentioned back in my Summer Hair post that you can use this as a bow on a gift and Here It Is! As you know, I was making a bunch of these clips for my friend’s little girls and it just so happened to be her birthday so I topped off the gift with this cute flower. What do you think!?!

Flower Clips

I totally got the project bug yesterday but wanted to do something fast. So, I made cute flower clips for several of my girlfriends daughters. Originally I was going to invite them over so we could do it together but… I decided that might be too much mother/daughter time and it would most likely break my heart knowing I will never have that experience. So I created my own experience and did it myself!

It’s so easy, simply cut off the end of the flower so it’s flat, slip felt in between the clip, then glue the felt onto the flower. TIP: Be sure to pick flowers that lay completely flat. If they don’t it won’t look good in your hair because you’ll see the clip.

Here’s all my creations! I hope the girls like them.

Kaitlyn came over and I gave her the flowers I made for her. Doesn’t it look great!

I had to try one on Drake. He LOVED it!
