Saturday we came home from lunch with Melissa and Lisa and our babysitter told us that Drake had unlocked the front door and walked out! A stranger found him and brought him back home. Ahhhhh!!

So today, I feel very blessed to still have my grumpy, Blue’s Clues loving, insomniac. First thing on my list – Home Depot for more locks!

Laugh Love Live

My friend Melissa and her hubby came to visit over the weekend. We’ve been friends for years and I really appreciate and enjoy our friendship. We have tons in common. We also both have 3 boys.

She was blessed to have had a daughter 9 months ago and little Rachel is so beautiful and an easy going baby. It was a delight to see her!

Drake loves getting his picture taken. Here we are trying on sunglasses. Yes, these are pimp girl ones – but doesn’t he look great in them!

We all decided to get new sunglasses. Doesn’t Lisa look great!

We had a blast shopping and eating and laughing together.

We even bonded over pedi’s!

I’m so excited to because I’ll get to stay with her in a month when I’m in Utah.

Big Tip! Be sure to check out Melissa’s Northgate Mansion for weddings, family reunions, scrapbook retreats, and blog parties! I’ve been in inside and it’s amazing!! It sleeps 50 and has an indoor play ground.

April Showers Bring…

May flowers? I didn’t pick many blooming plants with the landscaper. I wanted hearty plants that required nothing but water. However, I do really appreciate color and the green thumb of others. I was so delighted to find these fun tin flowers to “spring” up my backyard.

My roses in the front yard started to bloom a couple days ago!

Over the weekend, I took some “me” time and went shopping with some friends at Canton. Since my camera’s flash is broken I can only show you what I bought for outside. I got this awesome iron bee and butterfly.

Some fun animals for Drake to enjoy.

And these iron flower boxes. One of my kitchen windows faces this fence and thought if I have to look at it daily, I might as well make it look nice! Now I just have to fill them. 😉

I love Canton not only for the shopping but it’s a day just for me. No kids, no worries, just girlfriends, laughing, and creativity flowing. Didn’t get enough? Click here and here for other Canton finds and home decor ideas.

What a Poser!!

I’m really missing my camera! The flash is broken and I’ve got to get it serviced. Not having a camera accessible has really made me realize how much I’ve come to depend on it. As a blogger of course, but also as comic relief!

In memorandum of adventures with a flash, I’ve dug through the archives and picked out pictures of me growing up where I’ve thrown all caution (and good sense) to the wind for a good pic and laugh. Enjoy!

My BFF’s in Rockwood, Tx. I’m in the pink on the right.

Our downtown Houston adventure – I’m on the right.

Michelle and Me (top) during our Austin excursion

Traci and me (right) on Bourbon Street, Louisiana.

Don’t dare me to jump in an unoccupied vehicle – I will do it!

Even stuck in traffic on the way to Galveston brings a photo op not to be missed. (I’m driving)

I’m all about props too! Here’s our rendition of the “Dancing with Wolfs” dance around the fire while camping then tubing down the Guadelupe river.

Here I am laying on my side, on the right, in this tree at Rockwood, Tx after camping and rock climbing.

I love silly pictures!! I like to believe that I’m a sophisticated grown up – but as far as goofing it up for camera – not much has changed. If there is something I can jump on for the perfect picture, “I’m all over it!”

Miss you Nikon!

Dress Ups

My brother Scott (pictured above) and Lisa left on Thursday. We had such a fun week reminiscing, playing with the boys, laughing, and playing cards. What an amazing week with great company!

Their recent visit got me thinking about our childhood and some crazy times we had growing up. One memory kept coming to me -when I got to play stylist and they got to play dress up! It was actually more fun for me. {{evil laugh}}

Because I wanted girly sister so badly I would, on occasion, convince Scott and Lisa to let me dress them up as girls. Yes, I know that technically Lisa is a girl and a beautiful one at that. However, growing up she was convinced that she was a boy.

Here’s what Lisa looked like on a daily basis as a “boy”. Notice the piece of grass in her mouth. ha!

Here is my favorite picture of Lisa as a girl, during our photo session. Yes I said session. I have many more of these jewels! I think she’s even wearing shoulder pads.

Here’s what Scott usually looked like. Doesn’t Dylan look just like him? 😉

This is what Scott looked as a girl. Totally sassy for sure and he loved it!

This tradition started when Scott was a baby. Here he is in a wig and tutu. What a sport! Thanks for playing guys.

I realize the obvious question is, “Have I dressed up any of my boys as girls?” No, I haven’t. Jason wouldn’t like it and they wouldn’t go along with it anyway. {{big sigh}} Party poopers.

**Update! I just found these pictures where I dressed up Lisa as a boy and Scott as a girl. Notice the coordinating outfits. I crack myself up!!

What Color Girl Are You?

You Are A Gold Girl

You’re dependable and hard working. You never miss a deadline – and you’re never late.

You have a clear sense of right and wrong. You’re very detail oriented.

You get frustrated when your friends are sloppy – or when they don’t follow through.

You’re on top of things, and you wish that everyone else was!

Heather and I are the same color! {{giggle}} I wish I was never late on a deadline. I used to be on top of everything – however this 3rd little guy has blasted most of my good habits. Now that he’s 2 I’ve recommitted myself to getting back to basics.

On a personal note: I’ve either walked and/or walked on my treadmill every day this week. I have shin splints and my back is killing me. However, I totally committed to keeping myself moving. One thing I have discovered is that when I walk in the morning it zaps my energy for that day. Do you have that problem?

I think I may need to stick with evening walks/work outs and long soaks in the tub at night. That’s more my rythm. 😉

What Gender is Your Brain?

Your Brain is 33% Female, 67% Male

You have a total boy brain

Logical and detailed, you tend to look at the facts

And while your emotions do sway you sometimes…

You never like to get feelings too involved

This explains alot! ha ha My desire to run my own business, my passion for real estate, my love of Sci-Fi movies and historical fiction. 😉

Workin’ Girl

After being so sick that I couldn’t eat for 4 days, I’m feeling a little lighter. I was at the point that I was completely ok with my curvier figure and recently went ahead and purchased some clothes in a larger size.

However, feeling lighter has given me the motivation I’ve been waiting for to get moving. Here’s Lisa (who’s a personal trainer) trying to help me strengthen my back, since it gives me great grief when exercising.

I know you want another one! Here goes. Disclaimer: No children or animals were actually hurt during this video. 😉

To help keep me moving, my man bought me a treadmill. Yeah! I hated having to put it in my bedroom but I couldn’t bear to ask him to haul it upstairs. So much for my “bedroom retreat”. Sorry Oprah!
