Girly Girl

Update An Old Look

One of my favorite Sunday dresses is a black and white one I got from Target a while ago. It fits right, it’s easy to wear, and no ironing needed. However, I’ve worn it so much that it has lost it’s flair.

I’ve had a very stessful week and wanted to do something to “fill my cup” w/o spending much cash. So I decided to update the dress with red accessories! I went to Target and got $12 red shoes, bracelet, and necklace! Now it’s sassy and fun again! To answer your question: Yes, I have a red flower and headband for my hair. :-}

I read once, you should always buy your man something when you come home with several things for yourself. So with that in mind, I got Jason a red and black tie to match my dress.
What did you do for yourself this week?

I Have Been Tagged!

I’ve been tagged as a Rockin‘ Girl Blogger! “Shoot Yeah!” This is a serious honor and I will try my best to live up to it. First, I want to thank… totally kidding. Thanks Lacie! You totally rock too, girl! (I’m not going to tag all my “peeps”, because I want them to be able to tag each other.)

1. Katri – She’s the reason I (and all our friends) decided to join this amazing world of blogging. She’s an inspiration to many and a great friend to me.

2. Lisa – Seriously the funniest person I know. Even if I am the one she’s making fun of. She’s my first phone call with good news and bad.

3. Rochelle – She rocks at everything she does. She inspires me to make my life more beautiful and loves me for who I am.

4. Kelly – Who’s probably been tagged several times because she has so much style and grace. She’s the first blog I lurked on for a while before I made a comment. (She was recently robbed at the airport and I hope that she’s gotten everything taken care of and is doing well.)

5. Migue – She’s in the autism club like me and we completely get each other.

6. Marie – She has the coolest ideas and is a great cook. I love her step by step, how to’s, complete with pictures. She also likes to do crafty things with her kids like me.

Ya’ll have all been tagged… Now you’re it! Who do you think is a Rockin‘ Girl Blogger? (I could seriously go on and on, there’s so many of you whom I admire and am inspired by. I hope that you’ll continue the thread so I can get to know more amazing ladies.)

Thoughts become Words

“Thoughts become words. Words become actions. Actions become habit. Habits become character. Character is everything.” I got this quote board from Canton a while ago but forgot to post it. I have it hanging in my kitchen and it’s a constant reminder of how important my thoughts are throughout the day.

You could probably make something similar to this on plywood if you have nice handwriting or even with vinyl lettering.

Mother of Boys

Happy 4th of July

Made a yummy cake recommended by a fellow blogger.

Had lunch at the Walls house and then went to see the Rat movie. I was in the foyer the entire time following Drake around.

Had fun with fireworks at the Walls’ parents house.

The fireworks FREAKED Drake and Tyson out! Thank goodness they got used to it after the first dozen or so.

Me and Drake playing in the yard.

Jason, Me, Brian, and Lisa hanging out all ready for the fireworks show. We were so close to the fireworks it was amazing! They really know how to put on a fireworks show in Bedford! WOW! We had the best time.

On the way home a lady was driving crazy and was laying on her horn driving down the main road where the entire town was walking back to their cars. Davis, curious as to what the noise was, walked into the street and nearly got ran over by this lunatic! I swear that boy has an army of angels watching over him. Thank heaven she didn’t hit him!!

These are the kids the next morning. I’m crazy to have planned a play date! (We got home at midnight and Drake was bright eyed at 6:30 am!)

This was me the next day, exhausted!!

Something I’ve Needed to do

I’ve been working on my game room walls for a while now. (I’m still not satisfied.) I arranged a bunch of frames to create a travel wall. I want to display pics of our family vacations. Since this has been an ongoing project I haven’t given it much thought until Rochelle and Chanda came over for Movie Night. Rochelle went to go look at all the pictures – and well – there weren’t any. My bad?

So, I decided to go ahead and put in pictures of trips we’ve already taken. In the big frame on the middle-right I’m going to put a picture of the fam on the Seadoos. But other than that, I’m pleased to announce that I’ve filled all the picture frames with photos of my family. Yeah!

Do you think the frames are “too uniformed”? I feel like there’s something missing, or maybe too much? What do you think? I need some advice.

I also have a wall of some of our Halloween pictures. Halloween is my favorite holiday and we usually dress up with a family theme. I’m still looking for a big, square, leather clock to go above these frames. I think that would work perfectly.

I think it’s important to have pictures of the “good times” you have as a family around. It makes me smile and try to creating more bonding memories. How do you display your family memento’s?
