Totally 80’s

Like, no way! I just got invited to a RAD party at the skating rink! Time to grab my newest rock band shirt and do some shredding. I’m such a groupie. {{totally}}

Leslie (birthday girl) and John (as Richard Simmons)

I’ve been wanting to throw an 80’s party for years. However, there’s no way I could have planned a better party than this one! Leslie celebrated her 40th birthday by reserving the skating rink and 80’s apparel was required. {{squeal in delight}}

Here we all are dressed to the 9’s in our best 80’s inspired outfits. Holy cow we’re a beautiful sight! Chanda was born in the eighties so she came as a little girl. {{awe sweet}}

Anessa’s clothing was all authentic!! Yep, the jean jacket, high-waisted jeans, and LA gear shoes. Talk about impressive.

These girls were straight up fabulous. The middle one is dressed up as Star Bright!

On the Rink:

What’s so funny about Lisa D’s hair is that my mom did my sister’s hair this way for YEARS! Yep, even with alternating colors of scrunchies. {{bwaaah!}}

Cheryl and I on the rink.

We even had couples skating, red light – green light, and Thriller. Dude, I had such a great time. LeAnne made a rubics cube cake which apparently I didn’t get a picture of – but it was amazing! I may have had 2 pieces. {{evil laugh}}

With all the shoulder pads, units, leg warmers, hoop earings, blue eye shadow, layered necklaces, lace gloves, big hair, and RAD music – I was surrounded by crazy memories of the past. {{good times}}

Jason was out of town so he missed out on all the festivities. Poor guy. What was so funny is the next day, a couple of us met up for lunch and they said their men felt like women looked better dressed up with big hair. WHAT!?!

That just doesn’t sound right. So what do you think, should we bring back the 80’s fashion?

Boutique Hopping

This week on our day off, Wendy and I decided to go boutique hopping. I finally made it to Charming Charlies which is an accessory store organized by color at cheap prices.

I was in accessory heaven as we browsed through the store trying to think of what color accessories we need to make our outfits pop.

We then headed to a couple local boutique and also had a great time. Our friend Lisa met us for a Tex-mex lunch. {{yummy}}

We then headed over to the Elementary and Intermediate schools and registered the kiddos. It was a breeze with out children. We ran into a few familiar faces and really enjoyed the day.

Parker (our babysitter) took the older 2 boys to the skate park while I was out. Needless to say, I returned home to some really happy skaters who told me all about their adventure. It was a wonderful day and I’m now rejuvenated and ready to take on the rest of the week.

Stamped Washer Necklaces

My dear friend Melissa came to stay with me a while ago and she gave me some alphabet stamps to make stamped washer necklaces.

That is so Melissa to know that I would rather have the stamps to learn how to make my own necklaces. She’s seriously fantastic.

We were bad bloggers and didn’t take any pictures during her visit. We were too busy catching up and playing with the kids.

I’m in major need of a crafting break, so I took a day and created some necklaces for the darling beauties in my life.

There are so many cool things you can make! I’m thinking backpack pulls, bracelets, and bookmarks. Oh the possibilities…

Emily loved her necklace with a pink tear drop in the middle. Just what I needed to get those creative juices flowing again.

I’ve Got Moves You’ve Never Seen Before

Lisa and I were making dinner and playing around in the kitchen, when I busted out my moves. Yes it’s true, I’m a girl with mad skills on the dance floor. Here’s me bustin’ a grove. {{FOTFL!}}

Running Man

The Sprinkler

The Q-Tip

Kid ‘n Play

Beyonce Pump Rock

It can get a little crazy when Lisa and I are together. 🙂 We’ll be seeing a lot more of each other as she bought a house 1 neighborhood away. Whoohooo!! They move in August 28th. {{hands in the air}}

The Hunt is On!

Lisa and Billy have finally gotten a contract on their house. We’re praying everything goes well and they close as scheduled the end of August. {{fingers crossed}}

So it’s now time to start house hunting. Lisa had fun doing Drake’s hair for the occasion.

Pet pee in the entry way and too small. It was on our top five until day 3.

Thumbs down! Too expensive and small.

You’re gonna just love this home! {{not}}

TV on the floor! Thumbs down.

Too far away from me. Thumbs way down!

The alarm in this house must have been going off for days! It’s now a loud dying cricket sound – Thumbs down!

We saw several model homes on our journey to find the proper living space for Lisa and Billy. Here are a few pics:

Living Room Curtains

How about a balcony from your game room into your living room? (Love the iron)

Football room with easy field boarder (painted) and cool game board header. The score numbers can be changed out.

Narnia room. Drake LOVED the stuffed lion.

Princess Room Curtains with finials instead of rods.

Castle bed. I had one similar to this when I was a child. However, mine was a bed on top and a play house on the bottom. This one is open inside so you can see the ceiling.

Fun stone mural above the dresser.

Fabulous media room with murals inside the niches instead of frames.

After 3 days and who knows how many homes – we’ve narrowed it down to our top 3. They’ve put in their offer on the first one and we’ll see how it all pans out.

I’m really excited for them!

The Price of Beauty

I’ve been getting my eye brows waxed and threaded for years. I have my Dad’s unibrow and have to tame it often. However, the past 2 times I’ve gotten them waxed, I’ve gotten burned!

Seriously – it really hurts. I don’t know if it’s the extra sun exposure or the acne cream I’m using but something is making my eye lids extra sensitive. I guess I’m going to have to stick to threading. {{sheesh!}}

On a happier note, I’ve recently gotten some hair pieces and I’ve been having a blast playing around with them. It’s amazing how hair completely changes your entire look.

Here’s my new pony tail! {{squeal in delight}} Usually I just wear it at home as it makes me feel completely girly in my barbie hair. I finally got brave enough to wear it on my girls day on Wednesday.

Wendy, Lisa, and I went to the ghetto part of Dallas and went shopping for fabric (over off Harry Heins road). It was a bit scary at first but we found some fun fabrics and embellishments and had quite the adventure.

Super Saturday Crafts

I’m back on the Enrichment committee at church and last week we planned our Super Saturday, which is an all day craft event. Here are the projects we’re going to do. {{YAY!!}}

We wanted to not only pick fun projects that people in several different age groups would like to do, we also wanted to pick projects that will teach a skill. Each of these items can be given as a gift or teach a skill that you can use in several different ways.

1. Free Project – Wood Plugs

2. Reindeer Cupcake Pops

Wouldn’t these make fun neighborhood gifts and teacher gifts this Christmas? I can’t wait to learn how to make them.

3. Ribbon & Beaded Bookmarks

Chanda makes these and they’re adorable! They would also make a fun and inexpensive gift.

4. Family Home Evening Magnet Board

5. Church Tote Bags

We wanted a sewing project but the logistics of doing one is very complicated. So instead, we decided to monogram bags. I’ll warn you, monogramming anything is highly addictive! {{giggle}}

6. Christ Plate

7. Halloween Shadow Boxes

8. Nativity Blocks (Set of 3 or Middle only). Adhering Thoughts and Say it on the Wall both sell it.

We’re offering the middle one only because it would also make a great gift and it’s easy!

9. Christmas & Birthday Tags

It should be a really fun day. If you’re looking for more craft ideas or easy gift ideas here are more links:

My Day Off

The past couple years, I’ve been keeping sane during the summer by getting a babysitter one day each week. This year my official day off is Wednesdays. {{squeal in delight}}

As Jason has been traveling so often, those days have become sacred and full of everything girly. I’ve been lunching with friends, seeing chick flicks, window shopping, and picking out new makeup.

Christina, Chanda, and I set up shop at Ulta one morning trying on make up, hair accessories, and taking advantage of the makeup assistants.

Being at the pool 3 hours a day – my skin is a bit bronzed and my regular makeup is no longer the right color. Did you know that the People Magazine articles with celebrities without make up; actually do have on tinted moisturizer!?!

Once I realized the truth, I was off to try it out myself. I ended up with the Smashbox moisturizer and I really like it! I just rub it on, add a little Bear Mineral warmth on my checks, and off I go.

My new favorite mascara is the new one by 2000 Calorie. It’s fabulous as it doesn’t flake, rub off, and it extends my lashes like the expensive brands.

Next week it’s home decor shopping in Dallas. I can’t WAIT!!

Bumpits Baby!

Last week was hands down the craziest week. Drake got sick, the kids had 2 doctors apts across town, Drake had swim lessons every morning , the boys had swim team every evening, and we had Scout camp which I chaperoned all day on Thursday.

On top of that I was doing a post in the morning and every evening for Tip Junkie celebrating the new look with 50 giveaways. Needless to say my work load via Mommy & Tip Junkie was out of control.

No matter how busy life gets, I always try to squeeze in some girl time. By Friday, I was completely spent but could not wait to get some projects done with Chanda and her daughter A.J.

Since I had completely forgotten about my date with Christina, she popped by to give me a present. YES it was Bumpits!! OMGosh! I was in hysterics. Christina and I had talked about them a while back. When she found them at Bed Bath & Beyond, she couldn’t resist and got me some.

We were all in my bathroom trying to figure out how to use them, when things got a big out of control. I said that I felt like I should be going to prom with my big Texas hair and we’ll one thing let to another and…

I put on my fusha sequined homecoming dress. Bwaaaaaahhhh!!! That’s right my mom made me this beauty for my Senior year homecoming. Ahh the memories.

Just in case you have no idea what Bumpits are or what I’m talking about, here’s a video on how to go from drab to fab!

Watch out people – HAIR I come!

Girly Girl

Gettin’ my Craft On

Well, I did it! I chopped off my hair. It’s been over 3 years of growing out the A-line bob to come to the realization that my thin hair is better off short.

I wasn’t able to properly take care of my high maintenance locks during my 4 month stint at recovery. Since I didn’t have the strength to roll brush my hair any longer I used hot rollers. Although it was uber quick and gave my hair body – it also made it extra crispy. My ends were fried, I was tired of the length, and ready for a dramatic change.

In the fall I’m going to dye it dark! {{evil laugh}} I can’t wait.

I’m also up to my eye balls in paper projects. I finally resorted to using my dining room table to lay it all out and get it done.

I made 75 invitations to our June Enrichment for church. It’s a survivor theme for food storage. I was over-the-top excited to find teal camo ribbon!

I also made party favors for Jen’s bridal shower. I just used those little Chinese take out boxes and hot glued flowers to the front. Inside is an assortment of chocolaty goodness.

I’m now in charge of the bulletin board for church and have 2 projects to finish for Davis’ graduation party next week. It’s a lot all at once, but I’m so happy to be back in the saddle again. It’s been too long.

Wednesday night was Tatiana’s birthday party. It was so great to see friends again and have some girl time. It was a much needed break and blast.

Ahh, that’s the last picture of me with long hair. {{sniff}}
