No More Unibrow

Thanks to Julianne, I’ve found a “Threader” to do my eyebrows. I usually get them waxed every 6 weeks when I go to get my hair done but lately that hasn’t worked out very well. So, I’ve been sporting a unibrow for a while now.

Just in case you haven’t heard of threading before: Threading is more precise and the hair grows back thinner and slower. There is no burning, peeling or irritation, and is good for getting rid of in-grown hairs.

Now my brows are perfectly shaped and trimmed. Life is good. Have you had your brows threaded?

Who’s Your Blog Crush?

I’ve been debating on this post for a while now and I’ve decided to just go for it. 😉 I think it’s a completely fun topic and let’s be honest Ladies, we all have girl crushes. It’s the topic over on Tip Junkie’s Talk To Me Tuesday.

Right now, my blog crush is Heather over at Unwrapped. I say right now because once I get to “know” the person better my silly crush turns into respect and admiration. From what I can tell, she doesn’t read my blog so I can gush about her all I want. 😉

I’ve been excited to tell you that last week Heather commented on TipJunkie for the first time! Yeah for me! Does it make your day when a blogger you read daily makes a comment on your blog?

Heather is completely fabulous! She’s obviously spiritual, she was just called to the Historian for the General Young Men’s Presidency in my church.

She’s crafty and talented.

She’s a Mom-prenuer! She has a thriving photography business. I love it when women take control and turn their passions into a business. (I was a photographer for the year book all 4 years in HS.)

She’s a caring mom and does some fun things with her kids. (I didn’t feel good about posting pictures of her kids on my blog.)

She has some great gal-pals that she hangs out with often. Usually doing a girls craft night.

But most importantly she can let loose and be real. I love it when women don’t feel like they have to only show their good side.

I hope y’all flood Heather’s blog with great comments and get to know her. Be sure you add her to your bloglines feed. FYI: She has 41 subscribers. I’m not the only one who thinks she’s fantastic.

Truth time! I came out of the closet, it’s your turn. Who’s your blog crush?

Julie’s Rock’n Birthday

The part-ay and the crafting has continued! We celebrated Julie’s birthday on Tuesday here at my house. Now we’re going to have to make up reason’s to see each other. 😉

Isn’t this such a simple but bold wrapping idea? Love it!

I made this Julie Rocks! game and played it at the party. I’ve known Julie for 2 years now but I learned more about her making this game than I had the past 2 years.

Here’s the inside with the instructions and the game pieces.

How did I come up with this completely fab party idea you ask? I was inspired and plagiarized, um I mean blog borrowed, this idea from the Totally Tiffani game that Lindsey made Tiffani for her birthday. Thanks Ladies!

You can get more pictures and details on how to make this game board on Executive Homemaker. What was your favorite birthday celebration or gift?

Project Ideas

I got an e-mail from my friend Diana a while ago with these fun DIY project ideas. I’m going to look into doing this as a Christmas gift.

I hope you’ve gotten some fun ideas. Thanks Diana! What projects are you working on?

UPDATE: Diana just e-mailed me 2 more ideas… Enjoy!!

I think I understood in her e-mail that this frame board is to hang necklaces. Beautiful! I’d give her a ‘Great Tip Award’ if she had a blog. 🙂

It’s a Girl Thing

Last night I was able to enjoy some girl time and went to Mavens. I’m still on a high from all the birthday affirmations and was able to let loose and enjoy myself. 😉 You ladies ROCK! I really enjoy your company and laughs.

I woke up this morning to 5 cars parked in front of my house and realized that it’s our bi-annual community garage sale weekend. Luckily Jason’s off today, so we put Drake in the car and drove around to meet our neighbors and find some treasures. I got this desk for Davis for $15! I’m going to repaint it black.

I also met a neighbor who had a home decor business and I got all this stuff for only $32. I haven’t been to a garage sale in about 9 years but boy am I hooked!! I’m going to repaint both mirrors pink and the little table back to go in my guest room.

I also got invited to a neighborhood girls night out. I’ve decided I’m going go out of my comfort zone and go. I’m usually so involved with people at my church that I haven’t made it a priority to mingle with people in my community. Shame on me. I’m going to reform myself.

Oh! I’ve forgotten to tell you that my new calling (responsibility) at church is working on the Enrichment board. Enrichment is basically fun meetings for the women at church that teach and promote Home, Family, and Personal Enrichment. I haven’t had a creative calling like this for many years and I’m excited for the challenge. PLEASE send me all your great ideas!! 😉

Birthday Bash

The birthday bash was so much fun last night! This morning (after only 4 1/2 hours of sleep) I feel so blessed to have such thoughtful and wonderful friends. I’m still gathering pictures of the party from Rochelle and Katri, but in the meantime here are some of the things I’ve been working on this week to get ready for the party.

Rochelle and I filled a pinata with jewelry, book marks, and lots of yummies! Here are the goodie bags I made to put their loot in. (The label is the first pic on this post.)

I made some “Shoot Yeah!” key chains out of shrinky-dinks to go into the pinata. For those of you who haven’t had a verbal conversation with me, I say that a lot. 😉
I also made these beaded bookmarks. They are so easy and fun to make. I always feel so girly and cute when I’m reading a book with a fun bookmark. I’ve put the instructions on how to make these on ExecutiveHomemaker.com, click here. They make great gifts and are fun to add to a lesson hand out.

Rochelle and I are proud of our age and decided to own it! 😉

Lunch with the Girls

Some of my friends arranged a luncheon yesterday. Yummy food and great friends, what a combo.

Tatiana made this dessert with a white cake, poked holes, and then added jello. It was moist and full of flavor, yummy!

Drake, however, has not grasped the concept of Mommy’s birthday week. Hmmm.

Birthday Party Ideas

I love to throw birthday parties for my friends. It think that at least once a year you should let the people close to you know how much you appreciate them.

Here are some of my Girlfriend Birthday Party Ideas:

1. Around the Clock Birthday: This is a great spin on the surprise birthday party. Have friends and family members go to the birthday girl’s house every hour on the hour.

2. Spin on the Gift Card: Instead of collecting money and buying a generic gift card, attach the money to something that represents the gift. Click on the link for more details.

3. I’ve already given my Friends are Like Flowers idea.

4. House of Money: I’ve done this recently as well. My friend wanted money to decorate her house, so I made this house and filled the windows, door, etc with cash.

5. Song Card w/ CD: Katri submitted this tip to Executive Homemaker, she made her friend a CD and then worked the song titles into the card.

You can get further instructions and pictures at ExecutiveHomemaker.com under Gift Ideas then Girlfriend Birthdays.

Here’s a great tile my friend gave as a birthday gift idea. Enjoy and throw a kick-butt birthday bash for a good friend. Also, I’m in desperate need of some new ideas. So if you’ve got one please leave me a comment! Y’all rock!!

Birthday Dinner

We had a girls night dinner to celebrate my friend’s birthday. We had such a fun night with great conversation. We each brought the birthday girl a flower, put it in a vase, and I attached a Friends Are Like Flowers poem. We also gave her a gift card to Hobby Lobby. You can print out the poem free on Executive Homemaker.com

Friends are Like Flowers Poem

Friends are like flowers each unique in their own way,
put them all together what a wonderful bouquet.

Some are really brilliant full of light sharp and clear,
while other are more subdued to both you can adhere.

You are a flower in my garden that makes up my bouquet,
my friends you all make a very impressive display.

I also like the saying, “Friends are like flowers because they let each other grow seperately without growing apart.”

Near the middle of dinner we realized that the left side of the table blogged and the right side didn’t. Yeah, I have 2 new blogging friends! Here we are Blogger vs. Non-Blogger. We’re duking it out. 😉

Great Girl Day

My life is seriously cutting into my blogging time. Dagumit, what’s up with that!?! (j/k) Friday night Jason and I went out to dinner with 3 other couples to celebrate my friend’s birthday. We met at Outback Steak House (yummy) and then went home and played ‘Imagine If’. It was a fun game although I’m horrible at it. I just decided that I rock to the beat of a different tune and so not being able to think the same way other people think is fine with me. 🙂 What do you think, good justification for coming in last? ha ha

We had a really great time. My husband gets along well with all of their husbands so it couldn’t have worked out better! It’s such a fun group of friends.

(Thanks Rochelle for photoshopping me in the pic! You rock girl.)

Friday night I got home late and baked the potatoes for baked potato soup, cooked the bacon, made braclets for the girls, and made the black bean salsa. Saturday morning I got up early cleaned and finished cooking. I hate to cook.

Anyway, here are my book club! They rock. I picked Atlas Shrugged by Ann Rand. We had such a good conversation today. I really liked it.

Afterwards, a couple of us went to the Funky Monkey boutique. Here’s the blue ring I got. Yeah! It’s so fun and I’ve been playing with it all day. Jason set up a double date, so I got a babysitter and we went to dinner and a movie with my man’s BFF and his wife. We had a great time.
