The Dark Side

Me & My Dad

So I always thought I’d have dark hair like my dad. Always. Yep, I’m 33 and finally realizing that I’m not going to be a brunette with long dark locks. {{total let down}}

Like Kate Beckinsale {{uber fab}}

I’m tired of waiting for mother nature and have decided to turn to my trusty and fabulous hair dresser to do the job for me. I took the plunge and went dark and I’m so glad I did.

This time I had her put darker low lights and she added a little blond to chunk it up and make it sassy. I think the dark-do matches my personality and I’m loving the change.

In other beauty news. My sister hooked me up with the best mascara! I’m not kidding. We were going to do a mascara commercial for you while we were hanging out last weekend, but we were too buys having fun.

It’s the {{get ready for it}} TexasLash by Cargo. Everything’s bigger in Texas!

It’s a bit pricey at $20 but Ladies it is worth it! Send the link over to your man and tell him you expect Santa to put this in your stocking. You’ll love it!

Twilight at Midnight

It’s finally here the long awaited Twilight Movie. The girls and I couldn’t wait and decided to make it a fun event with Cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory and catching a glimpse at all the die-hards at the midnight showing.

Since we got there so early, we smuggled in our cheesecakes and ate them in the theatre.

We got great seats, our drinks, and then enjoyed the ambiance as the theatre was buzzing with anticipation.

All the girls liked the move, I loved it! Edward was a tough sell for me. I thought he was too hairy and not muscular enough. However the on-screen chemistry between Bella and Edward was amazing and did justice to the book. I also loved the Victoria casting (my favorite bad guy in the series) and the ending left you wanting more! {{of course}}

I can’t wait for the next movie, 2 thumbs up!

Happy Birthday Wendy!

Monday we celebrated Wendy’s birthday. Happy Birthday Wendy!!

I’ve got to give her a big shout out on my blog because the past year she has been such a cherished friend.

This is what happens when you give a camera to a 3 year old. {{oops}}

There are many things I adore about Wendy. She loans me her darling daughter every other week and doesn’t get angry when my son breaks her daughters arm. Not even a hint of guilt or tinge of awkwardness.

Her kids are my kids ages and they play together so well.

Between swim team and

trips to the zoo and

special family events – she’s there. She’s easy going, happy, spiritual, real, and fun to be around.

She’s always up for my crazy ideas, listens to me vent with out judgement, and is happy at my accomplishments without envy. She loves my kids and is always happy to see them. I know that she would do anything for me and I would do anything for her at a moments notice.

Wendy, thank you for being you! I continually strive to be the friend to you that you are to me. {{hugs}}

Wuz Up?

Here’s a little of what we’ve been up to last week.

Whew! Soccer season is finally over. Dylan loved having friends from the neighborhood and in his class on his team. We were so fortunate to be invited to play and I have really enjoyed getting to know the parents while cheering on our kids.

Drake has decided that potty training is over rated.

And so is clothing.

Davis was student of the month last week in his class and for art. Mommy got to make him a poster,

attend the PTA meeting where he was awarded his certificates,

AND attend a special lunch in his honor. Congrats Davis. We are so proud of you!

The Results

I can’t believe that I’ve been too busy to check back in and tell you the results of the my fun poll.

The results are in and the blogging favorite is Baby Looks Fat! I wouldn’t have picked this picture so I’m so glad that I asked. Ashley is designing a digital Christmas card to accent it. YAY for talented women.

I learned my lesson and will absolutely wear different pants next time. {{wink}} Huge thanks to Shar who’s photoshopping the picture. Girl, you’re fabulous! {{snaps to photoshoppers}}

I think I’m going to order this picture to go above my mantel. However, I’m going to see if I can use the effects from the ‘Baby Not Looking’ since it has more green in the background.

Blogger to Blogger: I heard from a ‘friend of a friend’ that people are talking about this post. Which is fine, but please keep to the facts. To clarify, I thought that I had stated clearly that I was dissappointed with Dylan and myself in the photos. That’s it. I have all legal rights to my pictures and if I want to make fun of myself on my blog and turn it into a game; there’s nothing wrong with that. We’re bloggers – that’s what we do. {{geeze}}

Family Pictures

We had our family pictures taken last weekend. I’ve had the CD since Monday but I haven’t been able to bring myself to look at them. It was a difficult evening and I was not optimistic on the results.

So I thought I’d turn my disappointment into a game. Please help me decide what picture I should use for my Christmas Card!

Rockin’ Guitar Hero Birthday Party

Davis wanted a Guitar Hero birthday party this year. Talk about a fun theme and easy to plan.

We made the invitations into backstage passes. Needless to say, Davis approved.

Here I am as a groupie.

I had bought some inflatable instruments to add a bit to the decor.

However, I had no idea that they would turn into a fun game for 12 ten year olds.

They even wanted to take them home! So if you’re looking for a fun party gift, I guess this would be contender. Who knew?

I just ordered the Hanna Montana cupcake cake in blue & black from trusty ol’ Wal-mart. $13 baby!

I was clueless as to what I should have for the favor. I wasn’t sure if the parents would approve of a CD with rock music. So I got each one a trophy with a guitar key chain and hot tamales. The note said, “You are red hot! Thanks for rockin’ out at my party!”

The boys played in a guitar hero tournament. I had a score board and the winners play each other and the losers played each other. I had a 1st place trophy for the winner.

I was so impressed with all the boys. No one got their feelings hurt and there weren’t any disagreements. These are some amazing boys and I was so proud of them and glad they were in my home.

I’m so bummed about this picture. I guess my flash didn’t go off. Everyone had such a good time. It was great to celebrate Davis and be surrounded by people who appreciate him for who he is. Thanks guys!

Happy Birthday Davis – You Rock!

My oldest son is now 10 years old. I’ll be honest and admit that it’s thrown me for a loop. I’ve officially been a mother for 10 years. {{wow}}

I’m so proud of the progress with made and the young man that he is today. It’s been a long road for us but worth every bump to see the person is has become.

For as much as he’s changed, there’s a lot that’s still the same. He is still very loving, very animated, very driven, and has the same interests; rockets, space, airplanes, and race cars. He did add art and writing to his list as of last year.

My Mom came into town to celebrate his big day and brought a truck load of real art supplies (not your crayola brand) in a metal tool box for him to enjoy. Luckily it came with a key to lock it because Drake was just as excited!

Of course my Mom brought an amazing cake for us all to enjoy. Happy Birthday Davis! You are very loved and cherished.

Visiting Teaching Conference

Amy as Mrs. Anonymous

Last Thursday we had our annual Visiting Teaching conference at church. These are some of my favorite meetings because they are usually really thought out and are centered around a theme. You know I love a theme!

This one was about the different types of visiting teachers and a couple of us modeled each one. Liz wrote the entire script herself and did such an amazing job. The idea is similar to this one.

Sis. Whiner

Mrs. Gossip

Here I am as Hang Around Holly. Instead of hangers, I decided to use inspiration from Project Runway and used curtains.

Last minute Lucy

It was such a fun evening and the last one we would all spend together. Our Ward (church) was split last week and due to so many new people moving in, and a new Ward was created. The picture above is the general boundaries. It lies between 4 main roads – that’s it. (The star is where I live.) The main road right next to my house is another Stake!

I feel very blessed to be in Texas and surrounded by so many people who share my same faith. I adore the people around me and am looking forward to a new chapter in my life and the many opportunities I will now have to serve.
