Make Overs

Lisa’s Texas Hair (Before)

Every 2 years when we are in Utah, Lisa gets her hair done. In fact, the last time she got her hair done was the last time we were there. It always turns out great because I am there for supervisions and direction. πŸ˜‰

This is after! Yeah. Leisl did Lisa’s hair at the David Douglas Salon in the Riverwoods. If you live close be sure to make an appointment. We couldn’t believe the price (cheap!) and she did an amazing job. Leisl’s a brand new blogger with a cop brother-in-law, we did our best to try to persuade her to make her blog public. πŸ˜‰ If she caved, be sure to go over to her blog and leave a nice comment welcoming her.

Melissa Before

In the spirit of make-overs, we took charge to help Melissa get a new post-baby look. Melissa had baby Rachel 4 months ago. We went to Buckle and after harassing the sale attendant for over an hour, we found the perfect outfit that was sassy and slimming.

Here is Melissa After, what do you think?

After the Blogger Luncheon we went to the Tia Pei Market (sp?) to shop for some home decor. Melissa and I found these adorable pumpkin name place holders that we both wanted. I guess I got a little territorial and they made fun of me. We decided to exaggerate it in true blogging style. Don’t mess with me when I’m hosting a dinner. (totally kidding)

Then it was off to Krispy Kreme and then a movie at Melissa’s Northgate Mansion in her Egyptian themed theatre room. (btw: Melissa is taking reservations for Family Reunions, weddings, etc. if you’re looking for a place that can sleep 45 people this is it! It’s amazing.)

We had so many crazy moments and times when I couldn’t breath I was laughing so hard. (Well that and the fact there’s not enough moisture in the air – my lungs dried out.) Here’s one we actually caught on video. Don’t judge – we haven’t all been together in quite a while. We get CRAZY when we’re together.

Fun Friday

Friday was a fun day of shopping and lots of food! First off, Melissa surprised me with a belated birthday gift of all her favorite things. She used this idea I posted on Tip Junkie using a Sonic cup holder! It was so thoughtful and it meant so much to me that she not only was reading TipJunkie but also found it useful. Thanks Melissa!!

Next, Park City and lunch at the Loco Lizard. Yummy! As usual Lisa picked out the best food and we all had to have a taste.

Then, some shopping. Here’s Rachel’s blogging debut. She’s the most beautiful and mellow baby I’ve ever been around. Melissa had to RUB IT IN all day. She’s 4 months old and a very good sleeper. When awake she’s completely content to just hang out.

Here we are trying to keep warm. I borrowed her for a little bit.

Friday night, the financial peeps I’m working with happened to be throwing a seminar, so we went and got motivated to increase our net worth. Afterwards, we had dinner with the co-founder and several new friends.

Yes, we actually went to the Texas Roadhouse Grill. It was a bit weird going to a Mexican restaurant that afternoon and a steakhouse that night – both are BETTER in Texas. (Sorry, truth hurts sometimes.)

We haven’t stopped laughing since we got here…

About Laurie

Utah Here We Come

I met up with Lisa in Houston and boarded the plane to Salt Lake City, Utah. The guy in front of us couldn’t believe we were so excited about going to SLC so we had to come up with something better…Here We Come Las Vegas!

We were on THE smallest plane I’ve ever been on and as my luck would have we were on the very last row, which happened to by the lavatory πŸ™ I don’t know what the people on that plane ate but it was DISGUSTING! Don’t people know plane etiquette? You only go #1!! The guy across from us was cupping the clean air and funneling it to his nose it got so bad.

We had the cutest flight attendant, Nelson (pictured above giving us the food demonstration – sorry for the bad pic). He was more like a concierge than a flight attendant. Lisa wasn’t hungry so he offered me her meal, he offered to get Lisa more ice twice and he was on the loud speaker every few minutes to inform us of the meals 99% fat free turkey, the bread manufacturer, alcoholic beverages, that the bathroom had soap and towels and the weather. I felt like I should have tipped him when I was leaving.

One of our inside jokes is that Melissa loves Nacho Libre and we tease her about it all the time! Some of my friends were Nacho and the Nun, I borrowed their costumes and we changed in the restroom when we landed. As you can imagine we were getting the best looks from everyone! This was Melissa’s reaction…

Can you see how red her face is? We had the best time!! We went to dinner and just laughed and laughed.

No More Unibrow

Thanks to Julianne, I’ve found a “Threader” to do my eyebrows. I usually get them waxed every 6 weeks when I go to get my hair done but lately that hasn’t worked out very well. So, I’ve been sporting a unibrow for a while now.

Just in case you haven’t heard of threading before: Threading is more precise and the hair grows back thinner and slower. There is no burning, peeling or irritation, and is good for getting rid of in-grown hairs.

Now my brows are perfectly shaped and trimmed. Life is good. Have you had your brows threaded?

Can We Do It?

Shoot yeah we can! Just call us Bob the Builder and Wendy. πŸ˜‰ Over the weekend Jason and I built a playground for the boys. Let’s just say it was a bigger undertaking than I had imagined.

Here is the left side of the backyard before.

Here is all the dirt I dug out to make a trench so the playground would be level.

Here is what 3 boys do in 75 degree weather while their parents are busy building: Play under the trampoline and stuff your shirt with rocks. πŸ˜‰

Here it is 17 hours later!! Can you believe we still have two A-line roofs, the bottom floor, and a bench to finish? It totally doesn’t look like it should have taken that long. Oh well, we’re completely exhausted but that baby is level and able to withstand 3 boys.

Seriously, the sacrifices we make for our kids. πŸ˜‰

We went to our last Halloween party on Saturday. I can hear you saying “What?”. Every year we have 2 amazing parties on the same night but this year we lucked out and this party was scheduled for the weekend after Halloween. Lucky us. We had such a great time as a family.

Mother of Boys

Happy Birthday Davis!

What a crazy week! I’ve miss you guys. Halloween was fun with the boys and needless to say they had a great time. Today Davis had his 9th Birthday Party. He wanted a Bionicle party.

Davis has spent the past 2 months putting together all of his Bionicles so he could decorate the house with them. I was really proud of how committed he was. It also took me off the hook since he did all the decorating. πŸ˜‰ Thanks Big Guy!

We played Guess how many Bionicles in the bowl and Name That Toa.

We had a Toa Challenge consisting of an obstable course with 6 events related the Toas’ elements – water, earth, air, ice, stone, and fire.

and afterwards a Crystal Hunt (ring pops).

The party was a success and this expression made it all worth it! If you want more information on the party head over to Executive Homemaker for specific details and free printables.

Who’s Your Blog Crush?

I’ve been debating on this post for a while now and I’ve decided to just go for it. πŸ˜‰ I think it’s a completely fun topic and let’s be honest Ladies, we all have girl crushes. It’s the topic over on Tip Junkie’s Talk To Me Tuesday.

Right now, my blog crush is Heather over at Unwrapped. I say right now because once I get to “know” the person better my silly crush turns into respect and admiration. From what I can tell, she doesn’t read my blog so I can gush about her all I want. πŸ˜‰

I’ve been excited to tell you that last week Heather commented on TipJunkie for the first time! Yeah for me! Does it make your day when a blogger you read daily makes a comment on your blog?

Heather is completely fabulous! She’s obviously spiritual, she was just called to the Historian for the General Young Men’s Presidency in my church.

She’s crafty and talented.

She’s a Mom-prenuer! She has a thriving photography business. I love it when women take control and turn their passions into a business. (I was a photographer for the year book all 4 years in HS.)

She’s a caring mom and does some fun things with her kids. (I didn’t feel good about posting pictures of her kids on my blog.)

She has some great gal-pals that she hangs out with often. Usually doing a girls craft night.

But most importantly she can let loose and be real. I love it when women don’t feel like they have to only show their good side.

I hope y’all flood Heather’s blog with great comments and get to know her. Be sure you add her to your bloglines feed. FYI: She has 41 subscribers. I’m not the only one who thinks she’s fantastic.

Truth time! I came out of the closet, it’s your turn. Who’s your blog crush?
