Wet & Wild

I am not a morning person, so as much fun as a church pancake breakfast should be, it’s not much fun for me. Oh the daily sacrifices we make for these cute kiddos.

We decorated the bikes for the 4th of July bike parade. Only 1 wheel each got decorated because, like I said earlier, I’m not morning person. {{sigh}}

This little cutie is in the church class I teach (sunbeams). Isn’t she adorable!! Her mom attached the red, white, and blue, paper strands to hair bows and the handle bars. Then she taped on the hair bows to the top of her helmet. Too cute!!

I thought this wagon was adorable all decorated with balloons.

Tatiana & Brent, Greg & Rebecca

Rebecca and her fam met us up at the park and then we headed off to the lake to jet ski.

My boys enjoy playing in the sand more than playing in the water.

Another trip to the beach, and another tube to try out. We are seriously hard to please when it comes to water toys. We took back the banana and tried out this tube. The boys liked it much better.

As usual, Drake wanted Jason and to ride the Jet Ski as much as possible.

Rebecca brought some plaster to make hand prints out of the sand. What a cool idea!!

Here’s how they turned out. I love them!! I think I just might have to frame them in a shadow box and hang them in my beach themed laundry room. Thanks Rebecca for the laughs and the memories!

Fish Stories

Since Jason’s family reunion where the boys went fishing with Gramma Betty, the boys have been obsessed with fishing. Jason recently came back from fishing in Alaska and fishing mania has erupted in our home.

A quick trip to Cabella’s for some gear and thanks to an invite for fishing and fireworks with a friend from work – the boys are officially fishermen.

Dylan caught 6 fish. Holy cow, great job!!

Davis caught 2 fish. He caught the only bass with one of his new fishing leers. He was ecstatic!

Drake even caught a fish. Which he thought was pretty exciting until it touched his leg and then he pretty much just freaked out!

Several of the fish didn’t make it back to the lake safely. Drake had to point each one of them out. He loved the excitement of all the movement in the water.

After a little while fishing got old for Drake and he was OFF – the constant escape artist that he is. Here, he’s contemplating my firm directions to “come back”.

Of course, he decided against it.

The boys loved the fireworks.

They also enjoyed the cupcakes too. Can you guess who had the red, the white, and the blue cupcake? {{giggle}}

Happy 4th of July!!

Girls Camp

Several years ago, I started the tradition of having a babysitter for one day each week during the summer. I called it my “sanity day”. It used to be a day I grocery shopped and ran errands with out having to get out a stroller at each stop.

However, over the years it’s evolved into more of a “girls camp” day for me. I figure I’ve enrolled the boys in several camps during the summer – I should get one too. {{evil laugh}}

I try to make it a day I get together with a friend and do something I normally wouldn’t get to do. Last week Chanda and I went to check out the Wisteria outlet that Katrina blogged about. Treasures were found and then we headed over to the Mall for food and accessory shopping.

I LOVED having little AJ with us and we totally bonded in the accessory department of Forever 21. We tried on lots of necklaces together and had fun picking out our favorites.

Near the end of our shopping trip, she got a little distracted by Build-a-Bear. I can’t blame her – those skate boarding bears look so cool. Photo op!

Thanks Chanda and AJ! I had such a good time and I’m loving my new bow headband and flower bracelet. Girls camp was a success. {{wink}}

My Favorite Things Swap

I participated in Kelly’s Favorite Things Swap and I had so much fun doing it! My switch partner was Nicole and she’s amazing! She wrap everything up so cute in brown paper and red/white twine. Adorable!

I wish her blog wasn’t private because she has so much to share. Her blog is so feminine and sophisticated – I felt like I was a grown up while I was reading it. {{giggle}}

These are Nicole’s favorite things she sent me:

1. Canvas bag filled with Burt Bee’s lip balm and bubble bath.
2. Book – I loved the chemistry in the P.S. I Love You movie so she got me the book.
3. Blue album – she loves making memories and keeping them close. (blue for my boys)
4. She loves to embroider and made me the 6 B’s quote from President Hinckley. {{love it!}}
5. She loves to make lists and send this cute notebook. I’m a list maker too, so this will really come in handy.
6. Rubber stamps – she loves to create cards, scrapbook, and other paper crafts. {{me too!}}

Nicole, I LOVE it! Thank you so much for taking the time to put together such a wonderful and thoughtful package. It was such a treat to receive!

This is what I sent Nicole. I choose to go with a black, white, and red theme because red is her favorite color and I was completely inspired by the black and white Audrey Hepburn photos on her blog.

I really need to get some new favorites. But, alas I picked my tried & true favorites that I’ve blogged about many times before. I tried to tweak them a bit to reflect more Nicole’s style.

{{Yes, me totally sucking in!!}}

I made her a “Blog Babe!” t-shirt in bling like RO and I made for our birthdays. I tried to keep it small because Nicole has more of a sleek style.

I made her my favorite “For my Friend” cards. This has special meaning to me because it was the first homemade card I ever received.

Luggage tags with Audrey Hepburn on them. (Nicole’s favorite actress.)

We both love to read and I feel so feminine when I read with a cute book mark. So I made her 2 Beaded Bookmarks.

Red square necklace. I call this my t-shirt necklace because it’s the perfect size to just pull over my head when I want to be casual but still feel cute.

I also sent her an Abba mix CD because we both love music and she saw Mama Mia recently.

Oh what a fun swap! Thanks Kelly for putting it together – you rock as always.

Small Talker

He’s Back!

My man is back! Yep, Jason went on a man-cation to Alaska.

He went deep sea fishing with a bunch of guys and came home with many stories to tell and breath taking pictures.

He saw all kinds of wild life and had a run-in with a humpback whale who got too close for comfort.

He shipped home a mother load of fish! For him to cook, of course. πŸ˜‰

Obviously, I missed him so much but I didn’t realize how much until I picked him up from the airport and started crying in his arms. It felt so good to have him home and squeezing me tight.

My man is home and I now feel whole again. {{teary}}

Bowling

After all our work fixing the walkway, we got all cleaned up and went bowling with some friends.

It was men vs. the ladies. Since Lisa was my date – she got put on the boy’s team. Lisa D. marked her territory by labeling my sis Lisa’s cup, “Boy Lisa”. {{ouch}}

Amazing Leslie! It was a great time had by all!!

Tatiana bowling backwards.

Lisa D. showing of her form.

Here are the Lisa’s in a bowl off! “Go Lisa!” he he

I was having too much fun to take pictures. Go check out Tatiana and Chanda for more details. Man, I adore these ladies.

Reinforcements!

We woke up Friday morning to reinforcements!! YAY! Lisa drove up and stayed 2 days with us. We were all so excited we started out the morning dancing in the kitchen. OK – no one was more excited than I was.

We spent Friday shopping, eating, and watching movies.

Before

Lisa’s on a total landscape kick right now and Saturday she talked me into doing a project. I’ve had the hardest time keeping my walkway in the back yard weed free. I’m out there frequently pulling weeds to no avail.

Before

See! It’s completely awful and I can’t keep up with it. Grrr.

So we got busy and shoveled, racked, and pulled up all the weeds! We even pulled up the plastic barrier so my gravel walk way will now be a grass walk way.

It was back-breaking work!

Even Drake got into it.

After

After

When we were done, we drove around for 2 hours and 5 different stores to find St. Augustine sod to buy and lay down to complete our project. No such luck, everyone was sold out! Who knew grass would be such a hot commodity. {{bewildered}}

Thanks so much Sis! You’re always up for a project and I love that. My backyard walkway is now one last thing I have to worry about thanks to you. {{hugs}}

Guilty Pleasure Game

Summer is kicking my boo-tay, ladies! So I need your guilty pleasure snacks for emotional support. πŸ˜‰ Thank you so much for all your suggestions. Looks like I’ve got some shopping to do!

Here are the results of our Guilty Pleasure Game so far:

Aubry, who I’ve MIRL, loves Kettle Corn, Hummus, and Homemade Pita Chips. She recipes for each guilty pleasure over on her blog. Be sure to check it out!

Here’s what’s left of Becky’s guilty pleasure – it must be yummy! Becky also has a food blog with lots of her favorite recipes.

Valerie’s guilty pleasures are M&M’s and Diet Dr. Pepper. Valerie and I could obviously hang out in real life. I’ve always got those in stock at my house. πŸ˜‰

Jeannie’s favorite indulgences are chocolate truffles and coffee!

Tanja shares many of my favorites as well. Her guilty pleasures include: Diet Dr. Pepper, Dove chocolate, rice crispy treats, wheat thins, and gummie bears. Yummy!

My SIL, Cecilia’s, guilty pleasure is Mountain Dew. Girl, you’d smoke me in a drinking contest because 1/2 a can of MD gives me the shakes. πŸ˜‰ I’m a total wimp!

btw: Those pictures of the kiddos kissing are soo darling!

Dena’s guilty pleasure is seriously so grown up. She bought a Williams Sonoma Ice Cream/Sorbet maker and has been indulging in sorbet nightly. Man, I want to come over and be 30 and Flirty with you while eating sorbet! Also, check out her blog design, beautiful.

Kacey has some really great treats to share. I’m really liking her list: All the Dreyer’s Slow Churned Yogurt Blends are awesome but right now…peach is at the top of my list! Frozen (must be frozen!) Junior Mints, Orville Redenbacher’s Natural Simply Salted Popcorn, Jr. Whopper’s at Burger King, Dr. Pepper to wash it all down.

Jillybean’s favorite sandwich is a Reuben sandwich on Ciabatta bread. She even included the recipe! You’ve got to check out her blog header – it made me really hungry. πŸ˜‰

Julie, Crazymamaof6, loves brownies, DR.Pepper, but not together. PIZZA totally does it for her! But she doesn’t feel guilty about it. {{giggle}} (I just adore this gal.)

Keep your guilty pleasure snacks comming! (Just leave a comment.) I’ll feature these and the rest submitted on Tip Junkie this Friday!

Monday Mania

I think I’ve mentioned that we’ve been at the pool every weekday evening for Davis’ swim team and Dylan’s swim lessons. Well, Monday was Davis’ first meet and we were all so excited for him.
Luckily {{for me}} there are several friends on the swim team which has made our 2 hour evenings and 3 hour swim meet at the pool bearable for dear ol’ mom. Um, yep you got that right, I’m talking about my friends. {{evil laugh}}

Drake usually insists on being in the big pool with all the swim meet participants and throws his lovely tantrums, but on Monday he wasn’t to upset. Thanks to some of the older girls who played with him in the baby pool.

Here’s Davis right before his first race, the backstroke.

“GO, Davis, GO!”

He also swam the breast stroke and in the freestyle. I was so proud of him because he didn’t stop at all during the race.

On his last race he did dive down and pick up some green goggles that were on the bottom and carried them in his mouth. Silly kid. His coach said that if he ever races against Davis, he’s going to throw a bunch of toys in the lane for Davis to pick up. HA! I’m still laughing about it. That’s just so Davis.

Monday night, Dylan and Drake were playing together which resulted in a frantic trip to Urgent Care. (Nothing surprises me at this point.)

It doesn’t look that bad 2 days later, but Monday evening blood was spewing and I was trying not to freak out as I packed up the boys in the car, made sure I had my insurance card, called for my neighbor to get my food that was being delivered, and bandaged Drakie’s head so I wouldn’t have to scrub blood out of my car.

Apparently Dylan was holding Drake and spinning him around. Dylan dropped him and his head hit the bottom of the coffee table. It looked more like a puncture wound to me but what do I know. It was deep and bleeding pretty badly – so off we went to Urgent Care. Dylan felt terrible and I was trying my hardest to keep calm and happy and assure everyone that Drake will be OK and no one is at fault. These things just happen.

(what’s left of my goodies from Katri from the car ride home)

I called several friends because in my panic state I couldn’t remember the name of the road I turn on to get to Urgent Care. Luckily, I got ahold of Katri and she was my angel for the evening and met me up there to take the older two boys so I could focus on Drake. It was such an unexpected act of service that meant the world to me. {{teary – a.k.a. blubbering mess}}

Drake was such a trooper and didn’t make a noise when he got his 3 staples. I think it helped that the nurse who held his head was a man. πŸ˜‰ He’s such a tough guy – at 2. Afterwards, did give the doctor his signature “go to hell” look. Classic! She quite enjoyed it and gave him a popsicle.

1 1/2 hours later when I went to pick up the boys, Katri met me at the car with Diet Cokes and water. She’s one of those friends who just knows what you need when you need it. When I told her that I was looking forward to my California Rolls at home because I hadn’t eaten any solid foods since Saturday night (when I got sick), she sent me home with yummy chocolate cake and pretzels with peanut butter inside!!

I needed that comfort food and that friendship at that very moment. Thank heaven for good friends and good food.

Which brings me to our “guilty pleasure” game – I’ll post the “guilty pleasure” snacks a little later today – so keep sumbitting your ideas!

What’s Your Guilty Pleasure?

I’m an emotional eater. Since I need some serious emotional support this week, I thought I’d send a shout out request for a new food to call my ‘guilty pleasure’. In the past, I’ve indulged in:

Tomato & Basil Wheat Thins

3 Musketeers Mint Bar

California Rolls

Then there’s the staple of Diet Coke and Dr. Pepper. I’ve started rotating them to change things up. I get bored easily.

I need your help finding a new snack! So, post a picture of your favorite snack (a.k.a. guilty pleasure) on your blog and then either comment on this post or e-mail me, and I’ll feature you! (Feel free to be in the picture.)

It will be a fun game we’ll play all week. πŸ˜‰ As an incentive to play, I’ll feature everyone who participates on Tip Junkie this Friday!

That’s some major traffic for you and lots of yummy snacks for me – win/win!
